Slightly old, but I did not pick up on the diversionary effect of the April 29th" meeting which was used by Max Mosley to whistle through a technical rule change.  Sure, you can't say the other teams did not agree, but I am increasingly of the opinion that Mosley is a poisonous element in F1 that needs to be removed as soon as possible for the good of the sport.   Of course other poisonous elements will remina even with Mosley gone, but you have to believe there are better ways to run it that with a whip in hand....

Negotation, Mosley-style

"they'd make an F1 team out of string and an old F3 chassis".
Now that would be entertaining. DMR-F1 anybody, i have the string and i vote Venca to drive:D

Yes there are better ways. You could listen to what everybody actualy wants instead of listening to your own oversized greedy pocket. Can you imagine the top two Blokes in world football suddenly ruling that 'to save costs, we are only going to have 8 a side and 20 min's each way'?

Ive said it before... Break away from those F1 idiots and let Dorna sports have a go.
I dont know what you could call it but F1 couldnt really call itself F1 if another series had all the fastest cars and drivers in the world. No cars= no spectators= no sponsers= no money= no F1. Simples.

The sooner they get rid of MadMax the better! But it would be interesting to see this new F1, I would switch to watching that no problem, unless you have to pay to watch it on TV :thumbsdownsmileyani

Good luck to them!
 Bring on the randomness!
Apparently I actually exist! Or maybe it was the drink?

If they really get the new series more interesting than F1 is now I could even pay to watch it. And I'm on the same lines as you, get rid of those old farts who needs nazi-costume plays to get satisfaction out of life.

that gp1 or whatever it's called that pits countries against each other seems pretty good. far less politics, much more racing. But then, half of f1 is the politics! ...anyway, get rid of Max and Bernie, get a proper system in place that doesn't rely on the whims of grumpy old men with axes to grind, put in place sensible plans to reduce costs and even out earnings... can't be that hard can it? ...oh wait, the rights are all in the hands of grumpy old men with axes to grind. bugger

What he said.
Another voice of reason.
"can't be that hard can it?"

(unfortunatly im not resisting the urge to say MotoGP manage to do it)

When  I think about it, F1 has been in it's death throws for the last two or three years.  The pitiful and silly changes are indicative of people who have lost the plot and are desperately trying to do the right thing to save themselves - and failing.

Either the 'two grumpy old men' need to leave for a couple of youger bods (got any suggestions?) or a new 'F1' altogether (which looks more and more like happening).

I watched a replay of the British GP race today. That was the first Formula 1 race I've watched in a long time. TBH I was surprised in a positive way. People have been complaining about too little close action and too few passes this season, but it was pretty exciting and close at times. Especially towards the end, with Button. All in all an enjoyable race to watch! :)

But I was amazed at how great the difference was between #1, #2 and the rest of the field..! :g:

Thulsa Doom

I thought it was processional twaddle once again, with only some close racing near the back.

obsolum

Come on, this shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. A lot more will have to happen before FOTA or anybody else really break away from F1. This was all just bluff right from the start and it wasn't the first time, either. These "threats" have been happening every now and then for years. They just pushed it a bit further than normally, this time.

delankster

the only supprise was it took this long to sort out.

so they are going back to the 1990's budget within 2 years.... anyone remember how much that was ?
It is better to stay quiet and act the fool, than to say something and remove all doubt

QuoteIn view of this new agreement and with the prospect of a stable future for Formula One, FIA President Max Mosley has confirmed his decision not to stand for re-election in October this year

So that's what it cost.
