Stake your place at the steak night

Just to remind both LAN veterans and LAN virgins alike that we are organising a steak night on the Friday night in the Hotel. IIRC, the cost will be in the region of £20

To ensure that they order enough food please can you indicate whether or not you're interested.

PLEASE NOTE :

As per the discussion HERE, we do need to have a significant attendance from people on the Friday night. I'm not going to reiterate the discussion but basically the hotel doesn't take bookings for the part of the restaurant that we use on the Friday and hence lose a lot of covers. Coupled with the fact we have subsdised room rates and FREE use of the £500 per day conference room we need to make the weekend viable for them as well as for us.

That said, no one is forced to attend on the Friday night so it's totally your call.

What else will be happening at the dinner?

For the first time, we will also explain what competitions and games are running over the weekend, sign ups for the competitions will also be done as well as the drawing of lots to see who plays on which team.

There will also be usual mix of witty banter coupled with copious amounts of wine, beer and single malt.

In the past the veggie option has been dissappointing, hence my failure to attend for the past few LANs.
I do enjoy the witty repartie and watching people hold forth but paying £20 for a plate of pasta with tomato sauce seems a bit steep.
I'll see what they have on the menu and then I might join you.

Absolutely positively most defintely will be there.

From a veggie point of view, I agree we could spice the stuff up a bit from what I saw last time, so if you have some suggestions for the veggie menu then please let Penfold or me know beforehand and we can try and sort it out with the hotel so that you get decent food and decent value for money.  Likewise if someone is after fish as an alternative, just shout beforehand and we'll see what we can do to help.  No promises, but the hotel like us and we might be able to expand and improve their veggie culinary offerings a bit!

Last time the hospital gave me a hearty dinner of a small piece of fish and a microscopic smidge of scrambled egg for breakfast.

I'm going to break out and hobble to the pub a mile away if I have to, absolutely starving last time round!
