Thanks. That saved me from writing my own report :D

i really liked this combo, had a good qauli and a good start to the race, around lap 20ish monitor screen went blank hit the barrier then bounced back onto the track and into the path of crazy R1(sorry mate:sad:) i then had to race with lots of damage (steering wheel at 45 degrees) and engine damage(no 7th gear) sean caught me up and passed with ease. so in the end really lucky to get 4th.  hope we can have the BF1 more than once a year:g:

well done John Rees:clap:

Well..... I was looking forward to this one as i actually felt i had a chance of some points that didn't come from disco's.
I was running light on fuel at the start with the idea that damage was so easy to come by that only doing 1 stop would be a dream. I was right. I had lots of damage.
I started around 15th and by lap 7 i was 3rd with space behind after avoiding the carnage. The master plan is working i thought just before someone span in front and i was off at around 170mph, Doh! It was only 3 corners from the pit but took about 3mins to get there and repair. I put lots more fuel in and off i went, uneventfully bar the odd trip on the grass. At about 45min, i was behind Door's for about 4 laps although a lap down and about to put a move on him when .....

Thats it, nothing, i ran out of damn fuel:ranting2:.

Well done to all that made it,

Yeah, really. These stories of works of Vista pit crew are dreadful. I once got the power cable to my display loose in 1h race, and that was bad, but it was easier to accept than a power saving blackout would be.

John_Rees

Had an awesome get away from the line 3rd to 1st, dropped it twice in the early laps so I ran the whole race with damage but I ran 100% at the start and 100% in the pit stop, I had no intention of ruinning out on this one.
I Lapped the whole field, Including moose, "sorry moose I had to get that in as I wont ever happen again" I ran the whole thing on 1 set of R4's which was fun as they cooled at the end but it all went to plan.

I have to say the standard with the blues really has been 1st class and I thank you all again for watching your mirrors. God knows my eyes were sore after this race. The 1st 3 laps were hell on cold r4's but I felt confident it was the right direction.

Thanks for having me, I look forward to getting my ass whopped a little next week though, deetz was flying in the uf1 and I'm sure he has some nice pay back in store in pure performance, It's due deetz, a whooping from you, I know it :D :taz: I think it could be more than deetz flying this week though.

Peace

Quote from: Gnomie;250975I wonder, can the wind really make that much difference??

It really does make a huge difference tbh, especially in the winged cars once its more than 10kph
With all due respect, if your not taking some of the corners as fast as is possible anyway, it might not seem like it.

It's not so much the strength so much as the fact that the wind changes direction over time, so your never quite sure of the limits on any given corner.   Obviously you have to be more cautious because of wind, and I'm certainly not making excuses, i wasn't cautious enough

I had to push like hell to try and catch John (i never settle for second place if there's a chance of the win)  and i personally pushed too much at times.

My fastest lap was a high 1.12 i believe, on low fuel.   I was doing 1.11's in practice with the same amount of fuel but no wind.
The two worst corners were the two where you can gain most of that extra 1+seconds...That bloody chicane :narnar: and the left hander 2 corners later.  Get that chicane right and the left flat in 7th and that's where the time is :)

Congrats John Rees :yahoo:

I came just to watch, decided to at least start the race then spec when crashed or at the first blue flag. I put in 100% fuel and R4's on and did a few practise laps. I started cautiously and picked my way through the carnage, near the end of the first lap I glanced at my position and saw I think 7th, stunned at this I threw myself into the gravel and let nearly everyone past before taking them again as they fell off the track again and again.

Bored at my cautious strategy, I looked at the time and saw we still had 40 mins to go (yawn) so stepped up a bit, crashed and got damage, checked how much fuel I had, pitted and added 10% fuel, crashed avoiding a Moose in the road (1 all) pitted-crashed-pitted-crashed-pitted and changed to R3's, on my out lap Obsolum blue flagged me and I let him past, half a lap later I was all over him, he let me past and I started putting in Pb's :D then ran out of fuel on the last lap.

Mille Sabords

Well...
I had some time to practice this week, which is rare, so I tried the 1 hour race.
Unfortunately I had 2-3 glasses of wine with dinner, and a broken set due to my multiple foolish attempts to tweak it.
This is how I scored a new pb: 3:45' out of 60:00! Oh and I forgot to blame the wind as well :D

I enjoyed watching the race, Doorman was always in good fights, congrats to Obsolum for the driving - a lot of progress in a week, and of course to all who finished.
Special mention to Gnomie, you kept fighting till he end when I would have retired.

The worst initial 2 laps of a race for me....ever :).  Had a really bad start, 7th to last on the first corner. Then I had another couple of off's, getting bad damage, whilst I adjusted to the wind (which in fairness was the worst I think I had seen it for any race for the whole week).  Turn 10 (I think it is) was nasty, had to be taken like a completely different corner.  So I pitted on lap 2 fixed all the damage and got a new set of tires as a bonus  . After rejoining a lap down I got myself into a groove and started moving through the field, unbelievably making it to third place :g: .  Mostly thanks to every one else's misfortunes :D

Well done to John and Moose.

Well I try to avoid aborting races, even on bad days. (As my CTRA stats show) And yesterday I even salvaged a point in the end! :D
