What was it that the inbuilt facility did not handle?

If we need a mod then the one linked looks ok, seems to be well supported now and should not affect our install upgrades.  If it does what we need it to do then I'd say let's do what it takes and get it done.  Does the mod all us to get management of the group membership/tag/icon down to Section head level?

My understanding is that, using the inbuilt functionality, members would have to apply for group membership and not be placed there by a Section Head. The MOD allows it to work the way we want it to.

Yes, essentially. However there is one major flaw with the inbuilt system. Basically, the way we wanted it to work was a Section Head would be the Group Leader of the Section Admin and Section.

However in being a Group Leader of the Section Admin and Section forums means that they will have all three of the sections tags, Gold, Red and Green.

We want them to just have the Gold tag.

With the addin, it won't affect the upgrades at all as it's a plugin using hooks. (I just need to remember to modify the Mod CP permission switch that I added!)

A couple of questions ...

Can we tie in forum permissions to badges? For example private area for all CS:S game admins (red badges).

Can we still automate subscriptions to allow people who subscribe to be auto-allocated the supporter badge?

There'll be more :D

Forum permissions, no. this is totally independant of them. Permissions will still run off the groups. Kinda makes it easier to manage tbh.

Subscribers, looking into that. Not sure yet.

Here's the list of badges and my attempt at descriptions. Can obviously be tweaked as required.

I thought Gold was for Head and Senior admins (full admins) and red would be for public admins?

The server and network icons were just the ones that were avaliable in the tags post. We needed something as a placeholder on Sunday more than anything else. Neither is finalised and I'm sure they can both be changed to something more appropriate as required. I also think several of the other icons are not transparent i.e. they show in little white boxes as opposed to letting the pale blue forum background show through. This is also going to be fixed so all of them are transparent.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

Gandalf

yup, they all need to be transparent png files ideally.

AFIAA, the only game where we differentiate between admins is CS:S (Although it may also happen in racing??).

It was mooted that gold should be for section head and senior admins in CS:S but that's a bit unfair on Whitey as no other Section Head are sharing their gold badge.

I think it has to be Whitey's call as to whether he wants to differentiate between senior admins and public admins in CS:S and if so whether that's by giving them a gold badge or perhaps we need to create a new one even.

Now it's easy to see what the badges stand for (by clicking on them), I'm less reticient about having more as needed.

my 2 cents anyway :)

I've slightly tweaked the f@h descriptions as they're not run by a section head

so gold is now

F@H Gold
Moderator - Folding at Home

and green is

F@H Green
Awarded to active folders (as decided by Moderator - Folding at Home )

This puts it on a slightly different footing than the Section Heads  and was one of the topics we discussed yesterday in the conference call with OB.

Could the description for my server tag be changed please. When you mose over it to see what it means it says "Server". Could it be changed to show "Server Admin" - pwetty pwease?

Penfold

Done.

I've changed it to match the description which may be better (if you agree) - ie yours would read Section Head - Servers? Gandy's would be Section Head - Network etc etc

WDYT?
