Not too sure if i like the idea of them doing this 'Coronation Street' things, sounds like it's going to be a cheesy cameo types

Sheepy appears and begins to stroke my head. According to his slurred drunken speech I am "lovely and like a fuzzy felt". Thankfully he soon leaves and passes out somewhere. [/quote]

Really enjoyed it.  However, did anyone else find it a bit odd without the studio audience, wonder why they decided to do that?

delankster

yeah know what you mean. think they tried it with no audience back in series 7
But swapped back for series 8 because it was a little flat.
not sure why they switched it again :g:

i must admit i enjoyed it even thou it was a short episode..... looking forward to part 2 and hopefully a new full series :D

Liberator

Sorry, but once again Doug Naylor shows that he hasn't got an original bone in his body.

After recycling all the good episodes from the first 6 series in series 7, he then attempted to re-invent it in series 8 and made a pigs ear of it.

Now he has basically forgotten the plot lines in series 7 & 8 and pretended they never happened by inventing a fictional "series 9" in which the characters return to their earlier (successful) persona's and situation where Lister is back to being the last remaining human and Rimmer is back to being a hologram by the subtitle in the first 3 seconds of "9 years later".

Stealing the plot line from "League of Gentlemen: Apocalypse" he is filling the time in between by attempting to copy "Blade Runner" without any real comedy value and trying to cover up the lack of originality by Lister reading the plot line on the back of the DVD cover, thereby allowing Doug Naylor to rob scenes out of the film with a "clear" conscience.

Basically anything "wrong" will be explained by being in the missing "9th series".

While I can see that the actors are at least trying to recapture the essence of their characters in the first 6 series, the writing is still missing the originality of Rob Grant.

And where the hell is Norman Lovett or even Hattie Hayridge if he wasn't available.

Unfortunately this mini-series IS living up to my expectations, I wish it wasn't, I really do.

CAT looks a too moggy like to be acting cool .
Anyone else hate the way the adverts kick in ?

i miss the canned laughter, and why couldnt they just have it as a 1.5 hr special?, instead of 3 drink infused episodes(from my point of view... cheers.......hic)

I came into this world with nothing,
through careful management I\'ve got most of it left.

Jabbs

What's happened to the old humour? Is it the same guy(s) gal(s) writing it?  There has been a few classic moments such as Lister sneezing through a collander to 'steam clean' his ironing :roflmao: but there seems to be too much other stuff - not sure this going back to earth is doing it for me either.
