Quote from: Pete Franklin;266814anyone else get disco'd? i did and i cant see the server anymore

yep me too... can't even add the server manually.

Pete Franklin

Well slightly scrappy first few laps but was going pretty well 2nd down to 5th then back up to 3rd and going strong with some nice battles.

came up on someone who had been off the track and seemed to be going a bit slow - went into the final chicane and then said car slowed way more than I was expecting I went around the outside in avoidance but there was no room and we touched which gave me 20 mins of damage :crying:  Sorry for hitting you whoever it was.

still dont fully know whats going on with the disco's.  I want to sort out whatever is giving the my high ping readings- i assume they must be wrong because i always have excelent connections with no lag/ warping and no probs in other games. Anyone have any Ideas?

Cheers

Pete

Weeee! :yahoo: Server functioning like a dream :)

And some nice racing too. On my part, started from 5th or so, had a good start and was 3rd after 1st lap. 2nd after 2nd. On fire some could say :).

On 6th lap or so I got some, hmmm.. local interference, and placed left hand wheels on grass while braking... Lost two positions there. Then was trying to gather back my concentration around the track for about 5 laps, spunn or went off-road on every one of them.. I guess I was 7th when I got "back on track". Gained some positions back because of others had some moments of their own. And finaly got to 3rd when Oliver went out of fuel on the last lap. That's some serious bad luck.

But nevertheless, server works, racing was goood. And there are many Wednesdays on calendar to come. :) From which I'll miss the next two...:crying:

Doorman

Right! Where to start? First thing, the server is not at fault and I didn't see any sign of lagging or flickering cars. The disconnects and subsequent inability to see the server in the lobby was down to one man's connection. It was running a ping of 65,553! Not possible I know, but I think it's nKPs netcode that is the root cause of discos. In any other game that person would simply be disconnected leaving the rest in peace.
Pete, that was me you had a coming together with. I'm pretty sure I'm blameless but I'll look at the replay and put my hands up if I was to blame. I also suffered a bit of damage, just enough to put the wheel askew, but I struggled on manfully. :norty:
All in all I'm going to declare that meeting a success.
Well done to Mark, first race without falling off somewhere which he then wins! :D
Good job everyone else. Thanks for turning up. :D

Sounds good, want to elaborate? :norty:

There'll be loads more, you carry on being interfered with, we don't mind. :D

Fun race mostly. Had good scraps with Franklin and Boissel and was in 3rd with a decent gap each way, with not long to go before the first pitstops.

At this point I plowed into the back of a lapped driver when I didn't realise he was trying to let me pass until too it was late...cue 10 mins fix time and 7 laps down at the flag.

Really sorry about that...wish I hadn't panicked and locked up the brakes, then we would both have survived with just a scare. Just so you know, slowing on the racing line like that is a really bad idea, even with the best of intentions (you probably know that now anyway lol), especially with a huge long straight coming up in two corners time. :)

Brilliant. A full race with no problems. (Other than my driving.)

I qualified 5th or 6th, and got a good start to the race getting up to 3rd early on, but when the guy in front made a tiny mistake and I had to lift Sokke sneaked through.. The second place guy then had a moment and Sokke and I advanced a place.

Sokke held me up for a lap or two sliding around too much, but then started to pull away. I had just put my serious hat on :boxing: when Sokke had a spin or half spin into the final chicane and I was through into 2nd place.

I checked the gap to the leader Mark, blooming heck! 12 seconds already.

After loosing the odd couple of seconds here and there, avoiding spinning car’s, loosing concentration etc, the gap went up to 17 â€" 18 seconds , but after this, the gap remained pretty static until the end of the race as I managed (finally) to put some consistent laps in.

A good race, well done to Mark for the win, and all who finished. :D

Bah.  Mr no life whatsoever actually had to venture into the real world. It had to be on racenight didn't it:angry:

Anyway, I'm glad it seemed to go well.  Fingers crossed that the server problems are history.

Grats to the Podium guys (and everyone who finished ;) )

I look forward to the next race.

First of all, woohoo! A complete quali and race session with, as far as I could see, no lag or stuttering at all :yahoo: Hopefully the extra kilomegabots have done the trick :D

Thanks for the kind plaudits :)

As for the race it was an odd race for me, after a bit of pressure at the start the biggest challenge for me was to try and stay consistent, as I didn't have anyone up my 'jacksie' or to chase. But consistency has always been my weak point as you have seen before  So I was really happy just to stay on track for 40 laps putting in reasonably good times. I could see Deetz tailing me from the pitboards and knew that one dodgy spin would put him right up with or in front of me so I was still sweating right up til the end!

Good racing all round but a shame there weren't a few more bodies.

Looking forward to the next race which will be in a fortnight for me, due to a well needed holiday

Unlucky Moose, catch you next time.

It looks like Doorman has fixed the server 'long session issue' now. (Fingers crossed.) But we did have one problem as Doorman stated. This did effect the server. It looked to be caused by a problem with a single client. Huge ping being shown in game to one connection, with the loss of server visibility in the lobby and loss of connection to some other clients. I hope the net code gets sorted soon.

Onwards and upwards. :D

I've watched a couple of incidents and I have to say from as much as you can tell from a replay Craig (the guy you ran into) didn't do a lot wrong. But you've put your hands up anyway. :) A tad more predictive driving would have had you sail round on the inside with hardly a lift of the throttle. Having said that, it's the easiest thing in the world to do when you watch it 10 times in quick succession. :D One of those things.
Your comment about 'a huge long straight coming up' is a breath of fresh air. We've been brought up in LFS where you move out of the bloody way NOW! :norty::roflmao:
As the LFS chaps know that has long been a bone of contention with me.
Good sport RJ

The other replay I watched was between Pete and myself. It goes without saying that he was completely and utterly in the wrong! :norty:
Seriously, it was a classic case of two different lines into a corner and one of them is wrong! Mine, as it turns out. However, that was my line and making the assumption that my 'wrong' line was a 'move over' was wrong. A little more patience would have done the trick.
As a consolation, I will be using your line in future. :D

Pete Franklin

I haven’t seen the replay (I don’t know how to record them…) however I fully accept that it was my fault hence why I apologised :D  I wasn’t actually trying to pass you into that corner.  As you say your different line caught me by surprise but I should have held back more.

Could someone please post the replay so I can see it for myself? (or is it too big??)
I don’t want to contend it I’m just interested + it would be nice to see the rest of the race up to that point.

I'll sort it. :) Do you know how to work the replay? Nod once for yes and shake head twice for no.

Replay uploaded. It's in the dMr Downloads section/nKP skins etc.
