Gents, we've had a relatively large influx of new guys and I'm concious they aren't getting the same level of fun that the older hacks are getting.

It can't be fun being shouted out for 20 minutes in absolute carnage. I was thinking it may be worth doing a 'newbie night' or session.

A couple of old hands that jump on, do the maps etc, but don't lead, don't attack as zombies, but guide and get the guys used to it so they get used to the idea of combining infected attacks, timing spawns, getting used to hunter jumps etc.

The reason this sits a little close is when WoW started up, I joined 6 months after everyone else and didn't want to play with people I didn't know and couldn't play with people I did, so I gave up. Tenuous I know, but L4D in my opinion has something for everyone and being dragged through a map by 2 old  wouldn't be fun for me if I was starting again.

Thoughts? We could fire up the Coldstore as a training ground and do hour long sessions to get used to the maps and tactics to get everyone up to speed...

Brilliant idea. Shout if you need any help.

Good idea and I'll lend a hand too.

The other thing that tends to be overlooked is the single player aspect of the game. It's great for learning how dumb the bots are and the map layouts if nothing else.

Good idea - L4d class 101 - sign me up

I'd look at maybe 1 or 2 normal maps and a finale. I'm thinking if we max the players at 7 we can switch the teams around and have all the newbies on infected, then all on survivor with limited attacks from the vets.

So, 4 new guys per session, 3 max old hands. Will post for interest later. How about 8-9 on Thursday?

BB - can you hook me up or be around so we can change the password? I'm assuming I can do it through RCON?

No good for me. 1 hour race finishes at 9:30

You can change the password via HLSW although it will prob reset on level change and you may have to check and change it again (wont affect those that are already on the server)

The other option is to change it in the server config file via FTP then do a "quit" in HLSW so it reloads and uses new password - you would have to remember to change it back after finishing though - your choice :)

Tuesdays? 8-9 or 9-10?

8-9 (theory) sounds good. Then 9-10 (practice)

It might be worth turning all-talk off during these sessions so that we won't have the Survivours and Infected guides trying to talk at the same time and getting the new kids all confused?
I do exactly what the little voices tell me to.

PC Specs:- Black box with some fans that go whirrr, a few lights, things inside that get warm, headphones, keyboard (a clicky one), mouse (with buttons and no squeak), disks (2-off SSD and HDD) and a monitor of sufficient proportions.

I know, I'm afraid to go to the toilet.

I'd like some help with hunter jumps please. I never seem to get it quite right. Whether I sign up here or perhaps some kindly soul will give me a bit of help at the LAN it'd be appreciated.
