360, there has been no clear game breaker for PS3 as of yet

360 is cheaper, has a bit more games but PS3 delivers a BD player also and more power to the game. It really depends on what you are looking for.

There is only fable 2 halo 3 and GOW 2 that is only on the xbox that i would maybe like to buy. Halo 3 is silly and childish fable is ok and GOW 2 looks good but that you can just get the 1st one. Any way most games on the 360 come out on pc 2-3 years after the console release. On the ps3 you have killzone 2 and grand tursimo which will never come out on pc.

Le Rouge

Metal Gear Solid. PS3. I actually cosider buying the console just for this game (I played all previous 3, on the PS and PS2).

If i was a console gamer i'd jump on the xbox wagon.

I would need to get the black elite edition however as this model supposedly has had  modifications to the chassis to prevent overheating that i have been told causes the the red light. Playstation and nintendo have lost a few licenses to xbox and the controller i feel is much better.

In the long term the ps3 will be more future proof but if bluray does take off i am sure microsoft will bring out a bluray add on as they did with hd dvd. It's a shame they backed the loosing format which they are somewhat apprehensive to do the same again.

xbox 360 is for me the clear winner, if you like simple to connect online multiplayer gaming, better pad, better interface,on the other hand PS3 is a great multimedia machine, i thinks the graphics are the same on each machine.

better gaming = xbox 360
better multi media = PS3

Unless you're playing Blu-Ray on it the choice is clear. XBox 360 all the way.

I'd recommend the Elite like Ghosty Said, not for reliability, just for HDMI, it's worth it.
The 360 can use external hard drives plugged into the USB port to play videos from (the usual video codecs you find on stuff you can download from the internet all seem to work), playing videos across the network is also a bit easier with the 360. The PS3 tends to drop it's connection from time to time, it's often a case of copying a file onto the hard drive to watch it (which tbh is not that big a deal, but still not ideal)
Around 95% of the games you'll want to play that are on PS3 are on XBox, the same can't be said the other way round. I've played Drakes Fortune which is an exclusive PS3, it's good, not worth buying a console for. I've played games like GoW 1 & 2, and it's almost worth buying a console for them and they're not even my sort of game.

As I said as a console the 360 is a clear winner. As Blu Ray player which also does console games the PS3 become excelent value for money. My my younger brother has both and 99% of the time he uses the 360. The PS3 is in the living room back home for playing movies on and very little else.
Juggling Hard Disks over concrete floors ends in tears 5% of the time.

I've got a 360 so I'm gonna have to be completely biased & say go with a 360, but tbh I've no experience of the ps3 so it's not really fair for me to comment.

If your concerned about the reliability of 360's then the newer versions are alot better & take my advice & keep it in a well ventilated area & you'll have very few problems - mine struggled when I had it under my desk as it just kept sucking in its own warm air - had a bit of a move round & got it out in the open & had no problems since.

QFT.

That's why I have both. 360 for gaming and PS3 for DVD, music and bluray :D

i was wondering which 360 (or ps3) to get cause for 200 pounds for the elite seems a bit much is it possible to get an memory upgrade for the core version or is the elite the only reliable 1 :g:
