Unfortunately that was beta. The current version doesn't have folders such as sprites, maps and models. So until some 7yo kid figures a way, I think we're stuck with what we're given.

You can create your own sprites sounds maps models players folders. Anything you dump in there will show up ......I think?

I did the player models last night but i havnt tried the weapon or sprites yet.

The player models showed up fine........i now just need to sort my binds out, Are there any bind programs out for 1.6 yet?


Ive calmed down a little now i might try again later today  :D

All these commands should be in a text file called

userconfig.cfg

and you should just add an autoexec.cfg containing a line

exec userconfig.cfg

and these should be placed in the same dir as your config.cfg file i.e. your cstrike

Alright then, how's about this one. When I start a new game I want the start money to be $5000, so I change the appropriate amount in the setup page, like ya do, but when the game starts it's $800! Can't see anything in the config.cfg to account for it.

Ron,

Start money is a server side variable not a client side variable. if you are changing it on a server then you need to alter (from memory so variable name could be wrong) mp_startmoney in server.cfg.

from a site i was looking to get some decent online comics from actually came up with a snippet on steam which some of you may find interesting, particulary the thirdparty apps bit

I thought this was a brilliant concept when I heard about it, because if it had worked I'd imagine things would have gone a lot smoother. People who download Steam aren't exactly indifferent to the Half-Life engine or the mods that sustain it. It is a fair bet that a huge percentage - if not all - of the people who use Steam have Half-Life plus mods somewhere on one of their hard disks. What the content migration facility was supposed to do was take those files you already had and transfer them directly into Steam. That means people don't have to download a gig apiece from beleaguered servers on the first day, which were already in the throes of a data apocalypse. What percentage of that impenetrable load the first two days was due to failed migrations, I couldn't tell you - but I do have the trick from the FAQ I used to get going. Inside your Steam folder, there's a folder called SteamApps, and inside SteamApps there should be a folder named whatever your e-mail address is. If you make a folder inside that folder called "Half-Life" and copy (or install) mods straight in there, they'll show up in Steam under "Third Party Games" and you'll be ready to go. I was just going to link to their FAQ, but their site is broken right now, which I appreciate because it basically vindicates my whole shit. You can see now that they put up a new installer that includes Counter-Strike 1.6, instead of having to get it through them. It was a good idea, even if it does establish their culpability in these failures.

Maybe Content Migration worked just fine for some people, but it didn't work on either of my machines. And every machine it didn't work on represents more load on a system already trying to cope with distributing the most popular game in the world.

Sorry to drag this up again BB. I did realise start money is server side. I was talking about when I start a new game. I am allowed to call it what I want, I can selct the map, I can change various bits and bobs and I set the start money to $5000, but when I start what is in effect a lan game, the money stays at $800. How can I change that? The only server config I have is for a dedicated server, which of course mine isnt.
