I've disabled the plugin temporarily as there is a new WoW patch out tomorrow and everyone is busy checking the various info sites (wowhead being one of the major ones). As a result these sites are slowing up a bit under the pressure and as a consequence it affects us.

I'll re-enable the plugin in a few days when wowhead recovers :)

Browsing atm and not noticing any delays at all.

Hmm, is wowhead Godot's twin brother? :g:
I get 'waiting for //www.wowhead.com' on just about every page in the forums.
Delays vary from 0 to 10 secs.
I do exactly what the little voices tell me to.

PC Specs:- Black box with some fans that go whirrr, a few lights, things inside that get warm, headphones, keyboard (a clicky one), mouse (with buttons and no squeak), disks (2-off SSD and HDD) and a monitor of sufficient proportions.

Agreed snooks seems to be slowing down.

Sometimes 20-30 seconds per page load.

Leave Snooks out of it.  He's just old.

But back to Wowhead.  Seriously, I am flying through the forums and wondering what the heck people are on about.  I hardly even see wowhead at the bottom of a page load, let alone on eveyr page and certainly not 20-30 second loads.  So why are we seeing such different performance?

Im noticing any delay at all when browsing the forums, could it be some routing issues from wowhead to certain members ?

My guess would be that it might be random which site (among the different scripts that run on this forum) you see as "waiting for..." in the status bar. Just now while browsing this thread, I notices that "waiting for www.google-analytics.com" was there for about 10-15 seconds. It didn't seem to slow down the loading/my reading of this thread, so even though you see it doesn't necessarily mean it causes any problems.

And for those that see it as a problem: with an addon such as adblock or no-script, you can just put wowhead on your blacklist and you'll never see it again (of course that won't be a viable solution for those of you that actually do find the functionality it offers useful).

I use No-Script and wowhead is an allowed script, but I still see no delays.  I have google-analytics blocked on deadmen, everything else is allowed.

How did you blocked google analytics TL?

Sn00ks

Now it's OK, I still get the 'waiting for wowhead' but it's only about 1/2 second, if that.
Maybe it some DNS lookup failure causing temporary glitches?
How does one disable wowhead?

The forum is painfully slow for me today.
I've adblocked wowhead a while back, so it's not that.
I msgd Browne around noon and his was slow too.
