I think my boss and the technical department is a bit worried about the security and stuff like that.. This won't compromise anything, right? won't enable the other companies to do industrial espionage, correct yes?

Forgot to get it up at home, but Ill try and remember it in this weekend :lmfao:

Nefertem, it won't compromise any security and it's not a trojan or a backdoor.  You download a simple program to the PC.  All the program does is download from the Stanford servers a work unit (known as a WU).  That WU is then processed (it runs millions of calculations on the scenario and molecule that was listed in the WU) and the program then sends the completed results back to Stanford.  When it's finished one WU then it downloads the next one to work on and it just keeps going like that.  Remember if any of the PCs you use are dual core then you can run one instance of F@H on each core (i.e. two at the same time).

Hope this helps.

You've got me going now too :)

Just a quick check, i did what TL said, does this info from the Log mean that it's worked ok yeah?

[23:53:09] Writing local files
[23:53:09] Extra SSE boost OK.

TeaLeaf

seems to be ok yes, just go back and check the log file and you should see unit progress.

I've just downloaded the graphical client version 5 at the moment, i've put my name in and awaiting it to finish benchmarking. I've got to say i think it's a bit confusing all the options you can do, or is this mainly with the console version? There is a wealth of information to go through. I'm just assuming the graphical version is the one which does it all for you. :P

You still need to make sure your name and team are set correctly:

Name: [dMw]Whitey
Team: 33597

OK it's an old one but he hasn't been around here too long and might fall for it....

:narnar: Too late i put my own name in. ^^

The graphical client seems to be stuck on benchmarking on the "waiting for core" section. It progresses to a higher number if i change the display mode or click a bit. o_O I haven't put my team number in yet either. :g:

[Edit] I've restarted it now and it's saying something on the bottom, but seems to be having a problem downloading the core. o_O

[Edit2] Got it, i had to run it as an administrator, looks like that's what you have to do with Vista.

If you don't have the team number in then the points won't go to dMw and you won't get the credit for your milestones :flirty:

It's ok it's all been sorted now. When i opened it with "run as administrator" the config came up and i could put the team number in and everything ran fluently. :flirty:

Just added this again. Used to have it running but sadly forgot/been too lazy to get it going again after getting a new pc. Shame my pc power has been going to waste but I'm doing my bit again, even if it's only a miniscule amount (I guess that's what it's all about though, every little helps) Added myself to team 33597 under the distinctly unoriginal name of morbo2. Hopefully I can help boost the team score a little. :D

What BB typed. Sometimes you wont even notice it's on, same as here on my work, the programs I use don't use that much of the comp. As the comp is allready on you don't use any extra power (and offcourse the boss pays the energybill anyway)...
