Ghosty and Jewelz should be interested in joining a team. That's 3. And considering we have 5 players in our team we could try and sort something out.

Target is our lucky number 5 (sub) this week. So if you could PM and round up Gmjr, Jlz and Target we could do a 3 way comp tomorrow? (If one of them isn't around Gmjr has a mate called Vinjy who plays with us quite often and could round him up?)

We didn't ask because we have a settled team, and would quite like to stick to the same 4 each week if possible.

If you want to be involved, you'll need to post a team of four who are going to show up. Then we can organise a 2nd match, we've already done it once and it works quite well.

 
i tried to organise a team for weeks, especailly when we tried the ladder and got loads of no-shows, that was a particually frustrating time that some of the admins can testify to, ppl say they want to play then dont turn up. :sad:
 
if you want your " settled team" to play the admins that might i suggest another night to do this on, I say this because i think it's been managed once where there was 3 teams including the admin one, so yes you and your team could play the admins every wednesday night but it leaves me and 1 or 2 others, not enough to make a team, out in the cold.

We only play once a week, the rest of the week is a free-for-all and the server nearly always has people playing on it. It shouldn't be that hard to find a game..

ok, let's untwist the panties and figure out what's happening here. I take off my dMw hat for a second..

History

People wanted to play competitive games under the dMw franchise. As the Section Capo I was concerned that we would let ourselves down, so we invented a match night to see if the unwashed and unloved scum, that aren't blessed with obscene powers of animal magnetism, could arrange a regular team to turn up on a given night.

And lo, they all failed miserably to turn up. Then everyone posted at once and all turned up together, and then the power that was admin said "Verily, sort yourselves out, I can't be bothered to do this every frippering week, get 4 people, I will summon other gods to walk among you and we shall chastise you publicly" on a passworded server.

Then it happened, a light, a burning bushell of burny-ness. The dirvish that is frenzied gathered four merry souls.

I skipped in a frolicky way into every bar in town and found no-one. Then I saw them, gathered around a burning tyre, eating fray bentos pies out of a tin, raw. They agreed and we formed the fighters for truth, the fighters for justice, the fighters for Barnsley on a wet evening in autumn.

And so it evolved. The players were gathered and the gods were again called upon to turn up. We (Zeus, Medusa, Thor and Mary Poppins) hurt the new team, but they returned, week after week.

The Problem
Here's the rub, posts have been made and made again about gathering 4 together for a game. I want to quosh something here and now, it's talked about admins versus whoever, but it's realistically me getting 4 people to play and now Frenzy getting four people. It's arranged like that. (I know I've called it admins, but frankly that was a starting point with me saying, I can arrange 4 people....can anyone else?)

I would be more than happy, relatively moribund if we could get another 4 and make it more formal but people can't be bothered.

That said it's improving. I've no issue with people posting availability here, but someone has to pull it together. I take the point about first come first served, but it causes issues on two fronts. Firstly I don't get home until 8, so that would be me out. Secondly Frenzy has made an effort to round up four people and I think it would be a backward step to open it up. It will become like every other night so no real advance on where we are.

The Benefits of fixing teams
All the match night really does is set people up to say, you'll get a game, you'll be on one side all night, and it'll be one campaign..usually. Is it really fair to say, come along, but someone else might drop in and nick your spot? I am open to argument here but I see this as a very grey area.

Solutions
Off the top of my head...
Rizzy, Target, Ghost, Vinjy, peanuts all would play. There are more if we include the admins. The only reason it's an admin team that I pick is because I make one post in the forum on a Monday, I get 3 replies within an hour and the organising is over.

If people want me to assist in organising the teams I can, but there needs to be some show of effort. Sulks, I know you've tried, but there are people about. PM them, grab them here, I want the match night to expand, but I'm not going to force the issue if people don't want to.

 can i suggest team 1 play the admins for 1 hour, probably 2 levels each way and then if we get enough team 2 play the admins  for the same, that should take about an hour each, otherwise if team one and the admins play a full campaign that shoul take it to about 2230 ish, too late for me im afraid

I'm happy with the winners staying on, one map on, one map off, the others can idle on Coldstore or the survivor server.

It worked a couple of weeks back.

Winners stay on.
Playing the finale levels of all five campaigns starting with NoMercy then SmallTown then BloodHarvest then Airport then DeathAboard.  Or maybe in a different order depending on finger co-ordination.

Sulks, all I'm doing is sending out a PM to Tut, Tox, Target and Browne each week to find out who's avalible and picking a team from there.
 
Why a team of 5? Because I guessed that 1/5 wouldn't make it a week, so far it's working out.
 
Why these 5? Because they've been some of the more active, teamwork oriented (aka don't get annoyed when I get my bossy pants on), and have been on when we've gotten our best scores against the admins.
 
(That last point is quite significant, because despite my conversion to dMw and teamwork, i'm still a cold hearted git who likes to crush the enemy where possile)
 
IMO start a new thread, find people (5?) who want to form a second team, message them each week, pick 4 to turn up, eat benny.

I wasn't annoyed, I just felt we needed to stop chatting about how rubbish at arranging teams we are and start sorting something out.

Maybe send a PM to Rizzy and GM? Blunt is back this afternoon, he hates L4D and is quite appauling at it (possibly hates it because he's appauling at it) but you could train him up! I'll talk to him, see if he's interested.

My bets are on Gmjr still being in bed so don't expect a quick reply :doh:
