Found a  snippet : Apparently the new steam is collecting illegal data from users.

The snippet has been upated and it looks like that may not be the case (thankfully). Amazing how heated people got on the way to the answer though :-)

my m8 just told me that , cs 1.6 is bb only , and WON is down in 2 weeks
so w00dee dooo im not F****** happy if this is true
no 1.5 and no cs for us 64k and lower   :angry:  i hope this isnt true
there is no decent games to play only hl which is coming soon :/

Steam is *supposed* to be 56K friendly  :huh:

The world and his dog (and all the fleas there on) is gobbling up all available bandwidth as they update both clients and servers. So not surprising that Steam is a little slow atm.

And yes, you've got about another two weeks of CS1.5 before it and WON are flushed.

Please, please back up your config.cfg file before entering the Steambath! If you already have Steam and have set up a configuration in that, copy that bugger too.
Steam copies your counterstrike config.cfg but not the 1.6 one. *hic*
I know what I mean. *hic*

9/12/2003 19:00 PST | Half-Life | by Fragmaster

OK, if you're having trouble getting Steam to work, this should help:
This file includes the full cache of data required to run Half-Life v1.1.2.0 and Counter-Strike v1.6 in the Steam client. You do not need this file if you have successfully downloaded this data from the official version of Steam.

In other words, if you can't get Steam to work or it's just really slow to update, get this and you won't need to download the nearly 400MB of updated Counter-Strike and Half-Life files through Steam.
