just wondering if anyones notuced, i can edited the fourms i moderate on, but i cant edit any of my threads anywhere else. Has there been a problem that no one has noticed yet?

ps i can edit this one but no others i can find i can is there a time limit?

I came into this world with nothing,
through careful management I\'ve got most of it left.

you have 15 mins to edit, after that then you have to find a moderator to alter 4 ya.
i beleive its a new thing but i could be wrong.... wouldn't be the first time
It is better to stay quiet and act the fool, than to say something and remove all doubt

It is a (EDIT: 'relatively') new thing and a pita. Perhaps Penfold can look into reinstating it.

Penfold

That's correct although it's under review.

It was part of the latest patch I believe. The reasoning behind it is so that one can't dramatically change old threads which could then ruin the integrity of the following posts and make them nonsensical.

Scrubbing out what you post is frankly sad. Say what you think and be damned.

On the other hand I'd just like to correct my shocking spelling now and again. Fifteen minutes should be ample to read through a post and there's also the preview option. But I still post stuff that looks like it's been spelt by a five year old (and sometimes written by one too) :g:

TBH though very few forums seem to have uncontrolled editing of forum posts enabled. Probably as Penfold says, it would make the forums a mess. Plus as far as I am aware it's never been the policy to delete anything on this forum either in part or in full. Even the worst stuff gets archived or goes to compost corner. You're comments will stay for ever to haunt you :norty:

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

Doorman

My beef is about not being able to edit posts such as 'Tracks you will need' etc. Not so much editing as keeping up to date. So the 'sad' comment was uncalled for

Ha :) I wasn't referring to your comment mate. I was referring to Penfold's when he suggested people might post something (controversial) and then have second thoughts and delete it, but do so after someone had replied, making the reply pointless and nonsensical.

Clearly updating a post as you suggest should be fine, as so should correcting spelling. There are good uses for editing your own posts and also abuses of the feature. :g:

#7
Section Heads and Moderators of each game / forum have the ability to edit posts without restriction.

I can see there is a problem with other creators of pinned posts who may need to amend them to update them.

I'll give it a job number and talk to Gandypedia about it.

:)

:D Sorry mate. My apologies. That's the trouble with forums. However, in all the time I've been haunting these forums I cannot recall a scenario such as you suggest. That of course is not to say it hasn't happened, but if that's the reason for the change then it's symptomatic of the times we live in. :sideways:

Pass. I'm not aware of it either.

T-Bag

set it back. It wasn't a problem before with people going back through their posts and changing it. But in a number of cases it's good to update a thread with an "Edit: This happened" without a double post or talking to an admin.

I am.

Like I said it *is* under review and once WWIII has ended we'll get a chance to look at it

I know. I was late in and thought I'd throw in my opinion to make myself feel important. What's WWIII? The Germans at it again?

No, the Canadians.

Sorry I couldn't resist. I will accept whatever verbal kicking comes my way for that unfair an inappropriate comment :)
