I've got an ADSL 4-port router, could it be that I need to set some ports to pass through it to let Steam work? A wild stab in the dark, which is what I'd like to give to the Steam developers (developers? ha, gits more like!)
I do exactly what the little voices tell me to.

PC Specs:- Black box with some fans that go whirrr, a few lights, things inside that get warm, headphones, keyboard (a clicky one), mouse (with buttons and no squeak), disks (2-off SSD and HDD) and a monitor of sufficient proportions.

It says:

QuoteThe following ports must be "open":
UDP 1200
UDP 27000 to 27015 inclusive
TCP 27030 to 27039 inclusive

Do you use an ISDN router?  If not then probably no......unless you run a different type of firewall that locks down those ports.

But on my existing setup it worked on Sunday (I think). I've changed nothing so it should still work, right? Unless they have changed the way it work.

Right, I've had enough, gonna play Big Mutha Truckers instead. A crap game but the only other one I've got loaded on the PC  :(

Gave it one last go, disabled all firewalls, open ports in the router and still nowt.
Maybe I should download a different version and try again. The one I'm running with is the complete one with all the cached files (apparently)
