Hi cohorts,

I need a phone for about Ã,£15 a month that has unlimited text and some calls thrown in, but I don't want to be able to exceed the call quota.

Possible?

As far as I am aware (and I stand to be corrected) that tariff doesn't exist. You,ll always get charged per minute when you exceed your free munites. Pay as you go is the only option that cuts you dead when you run out of credits, but obviously they're not free minutes.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

Is there a PAYG that will give me unlimited texts? Sounds crap but I know what I mean.

Basically I don't trust my kids.

we use 02 unlimited, on PAYG Ã,£10 a month gets you free txt to any other 02 and for Ã,£15 you get free txt and free calls to 02

T-Bag

Solo from T-Mobile fits the bill I think. 30 Day rolling contract means if it ever gets out of hand you can withdraw it quickly. Not sure if you can cap it though.

350 Mins
Unlimited Texts
30 Day contract

I'm sure they used to do one where you paid Ã,£X per month but if you ran out of minutes you could top it up like a PAYG, can't find it now though. Their PAYG requires you to top up Ã,£20 per month to get unlimited txts which is more than the Ã,£15 per month you were looking for.

Orange is 300 free texts with Ã,£10 PAYG, 600 for Ã,£20 and unlimited for Ã,£30.
O2 is unlimited with Ã,£30 top up
Vodafone lets you pay Ã,£5 to get unlimited texts on weekday evenings, Ã,£10  and you get weekends, and Ã,£30 continuously.

With all these top up rewards you keep the credit, so every now and again they won't need topping up because they have enough credit to cover their texting.

Out of all of these the Solo sounds best. And if I can find the one T-Mobile did where you can top it up, that sounds even better.

EDIT: It's called "Solo Fixed" It gives you the cap you're looking for.

there is a big monthly cost drag thing at the top, move it to 15Ã,£, then move texts to umlimited and then move minutes to 300 and DING 264 options for you

or any other combo of your choice, these phones are ok some you pay for some are free

using the above 500 mins and 500 texts Ã,£13.50, but a not do good phone

I came into this world with nothing,
through careful management I\'ve got most of it left.

My son had a contract with T-mobile which the EX set up.  It was (I think) Ã,£25 a month unlimted txt but once the call quote was reached you couldn't make any more calls.  Is that the kind of thing?
