I've another question. Is there a chance that the system may not be optimal in a guild where there is some kind of gear gap among members (and in some cases this gear gap is huge). As TL said, Eluo adopted this system and with them it worked perfectly, but i think they started with approximately at the same gear level. What will happen in our situation, where someone needs  a lot more items than his mate with the same class/spec?

Sounds a bit unfair imo..

but the rest of this system sounds really good! :yahoo:

Fair point. Will think about this a bit more.

As said, it's a new system for us and we tried it out last night on an alt run in naxx and worked really well. We will run with it to see if there are any issues before trying to change things as changing the rules before we've even started is crazy.

I found the system worked really well last night with regards to loot and the bidding, it was very easy and dare i say it fun. for example gandy won a staff over me in naxx last night because he out bid me on the 4 horseman:ranting2:
(only joking about the ranting gandy:wink: )

but my point is i put a bid of 1 dkp in and he put 2, now if i had put my bid up more i probs would have won it. but it was not really a problem:) i think the best bit of the system was at the start of the night, we got anub down and Tl put a example bid in on a tank ring which made jim have to up his bid and go into -minus dkp at the start of the night:roflmao:

but as a side note i think this system will really work well for us, we just all need to ajust to it and work out any bugs or kninks in the system until the officers and us are happy with it:)

Tirk, gear gaps are actually less of a problem with this system than say a fixed price system as it allows cheap & usually unwanted loot to be given out to help new members or under-geared people gear up fast. This benefits the raid in geenral as you are not carrying people for as long as under the old system. It also avoids the problem of a new member burying themselves in negative dkp when they have to buy loads of fixed price items to catch up on gear level with the rest of the raid.

Other than that gear gaps make no difference as the price is set by you not by the gear you wear.

@Bellanie
I know Bellanie said this in his post, but I'll reiterate:  Last night was a trial run for the dkp addon & the system in general.  On the very first boss people were not sure about how to bid etc, so I did an example bid in /ra to show them how.  We were all on TS and discussing this as it happened and knew it was a hypothetical bid!

Somthing that was raised the other day regarding offspec loot .... If you want a piece for your second spec !bid 1 .... If a main spec starts bidding you are out of the running

We want to see the kit being dropped helping the raid as much as possible. Biding on offspec is still an option tho only on loot thats not needed for mains...It causes uneeded inflation

I think you should have like a Main spec roll before an offspec or else we may lose to much loot that can boost alot of hps, dps and tps for main spec people that can help us alot with progress or just be harder on that main spec is before offspec even if you bid higher then a main spec bid

TeaLeaf

You already do by asking offspec to bid 1 and wait.  It's what you suggested in a different guise.

  • There will no longer be any offspec or mainspec rolls. If you want it, you can bid for it as you are not going to waste valuable DKP by bidding loads for an offspec item!  So if your want offspec loot !bid 1 and wait to see if a main spec wants it before increasing any bid.

We want to spend our time killing bosses, not hanging around waiting for  bids, in order to help speed things up I'd like people to use the following guidelines when bidding for loot.

If you have been bidding for an item and have decided not to bid any higher after being outbid then please type "pass" in raid chat (or let me know on TS).  I then won't wait for your next bid and can close the bidding sooner.

Don't bid up in increments of 1, it's fine to bid 1 or 2 to let people know you want an item but once it gets above 5 then please bid in increments of 5 or 10 (or higher).
