new motherboard arrived

I've been texted by the wife saying a motherboard has arrived.... (for new homer).

So whats the skinny Tea_Leaf, is it a new board or what?

Just found out that epox found no fault with the board.... whoopy fukin do, took em 21 days to work that out did it???

From the engineers report they seemed to think the server was not getting past the POST tests.... of course it was, just couldn't install shit on it......

I'm stuffed... not sure what to do now.

New CPU?

that is the only component that has not been replaced or tested.

Stick all the bits into the new case and all will be OK.

However, if it aint ...

Does it boot from a floppy?

Stick a hard disk (containing a known good Windows/Linux build) in it.

Does it boot from that?

I can send you a P4 1.5 borrowed from one of my work machines to test. Does the mobo support it?

We'll try the mobo again - never know, they might have replaced the clockwork southbridge or something - and if it doesn't work, we'll get a new mobo and TL can visit epox with a mobo in one hand and a baseball bat in the other and talk things over with their customer services department re: refunds for defective goods... :twisted:

remember guys, the CPU is the only component not tested (I dont have any other p4s) nor replaced....

we will change that before the baseball bats see the light of day :-)

Eer, hi folks - sorry for being absent for a while but I recently discovered a somewhat uncanny knack for frying the brains off an Athlon XP.  Anyway, that accounts for the last 4 days MIA.

I haven't had ANY correspondence from Dabs or Epox so I am somewhat confused.  Stryker, give me a call tomorrow and we'll talk through what they sent to you and then I'll go back to them to check it out.  As DDM said, I am only 5 mins away from Epox so I could go visit them with some cronies.....

Like I said, I'll try that motherboard they sent back to see if we still have a problem.... I'd not be surprised if all were ok...

if not, then we need to change the CPU.
