I must admit reloaded was a little let down but its still a very good movie

A Twig

Have to disagree, I loved reloaded, even more so than the original - admittedly it was flawed in that it actually required Keanu to act - something in which he failed miserably - but that aside I thought it was very interesting, a high brow action film with an involved story line!!! Very rare in these days of contrived story lines to gain maximum fight scenes/car chases!!

maybe this deserves an entirely new topic, but kill bill pisses on the matrix  8)

DarkAngel

I dunno about that im happy to say they are equal just because i dont want to argue. And kill bill part 1 is very much on my wish list to see when it comes out and apparantly it has a 30 minute fight scene (back me up here) ?

ChimpBoy

Just reading Empire magazine and the rumour is that Kill Bill volumes 1 & 2 were made for less than the SFX budget on "Reloaded" - kind of makes you realise how soulless the Matrix "franchise" has become.  If only they had got someone to play Neo who had gravitas and charisma (Someonle like Christian Bale would have been perfect), it may have added something to a film that has little going for it apart from special effects and a story line that screams "pretentious codswallop".

Just thought in the matrix reloaded when he stops those sentinals with his mind power in the "real world". Do you think they are still in the matrix but in another matrix outside the matrix so to try to keep control over them all? Because he was told he was still dreaming am i mad or am i mad?

JimmyJazz

the huge fight scene at the house of blue leaves, uma vs about 90 'crazy-88s' was made for a fraction of the budget of the matrix neo vs 100 agents one and is just amazing , and its all real, none of this cgi nonsense. it does last a while, but was still all too short for me we just wanted more  :D

since you all play cs and other, im sure more violent games i bet none of you will be too squeamish and will love this film, its just incredible. comes out on friday for those of you not in london  :P

Not really Smilo - There's nothing to particularly get stuck on for the typical British audience after rewatching it.  Maybe for your typical Arkansas dirt farmer, but hey, the plot to Transformers the movie would get lost on them.....

CGI for the sake of CGI is what it is - Lord of the Rings doesn't fall into that trap due to a fantastic narrative, involving characterisation, and simply uses CGI to enrich what is already a strong visual dynamic within the text.  The Matrix does it to be clever for the sake of being clever.  Take note George Lucas.

As Quentin Tarantino recently said, all this CGI is ruining cinema and, I quote, "if you wanna watch a video game for two hours then go stick your d*ck in a Nintendo".  Never a truer word said  ;)

Films can never be more than a matter of opinion. If a person thinks a film is good then it is. It's foolish to comment on the quality of a film as if those comments were facts as opposed to opinion, which is all they are.

The Matrix Reloaded has a depth of narative rarely seen in modern films and almost never seen in 'blockbusters'. Lucas would bleed out of his ears if he even tried to write with that kind of depth. The Lord of The Rings is a very poor analogy to make as Peter Jackson had source material to work from and the Farleys we creating an original work. I'm actually struggling to think of an original and recent  SciFi film that does compare?

CGI is a tool. If used correctly it works and if not it does indeed make for a poor experience at the cinema. As The Matrix films actually take place within a virtual reality world then it seems fair that CGi should play a promenent part. And many modern films need CGI to work at all. Try making Jurrasic Park without CGI! I could care less as to how much CGI a film uses as long as it works. How would we represent Smiths attack on Neo in the Matrix. Clearly Smith is a self replicating virus and attempts to infect Neo (a program himself whenever he or any human enter the Matrix). Multiple Smiths fighting Neo (in an extraordiary scene) on the baseball court is a perfectly reasonable way to depict virus activity. It also required 1 1/2 miles of highway to be built along with the recking of over 300 cars and trucks (at a cost of $40 million) rather than it all being CGI generated. It's the effective mix of CGI and real film work (as in Jurrasic park) that works so well. Add to that the real depth of narative (I've yet to find anyone who could explain exactly what the reality behind the filmed facts is) and "in my humble opinion" i think the film stands up as a great pice of modern cimena. But each to their own.

JiimyJazz i really don't know about the final scene where Neo destroys the Sentinels. It may have something to do with Smiths ability to hitch a ride out of the Matrix in Bane's body. maybe the matrix and the real world are linked, maybe there is a Matrix within the Matrix or maybe neo is Superman  ;)
