ACE2 - Installing - OPTIONAL INSTALL

Installing ACE is not required to play on the dMw server however as ACE is popular elsewhere it can't hurt to have the option.

Download this;
http://dev-heaven.net/projects/list_...x-arma-updater
and run it...

Then,

1. Start the 'Six Updater - GUI', this will open a web interface after a few seconds. If not browse to http://localhost:16333/
2. Click on 'Main'.
3. Ensure that the 'A.C.E. Mod (Vanilla)' profile is selected.
4. Click 'Execute'.

This will now install the selected mods. This may take some time, especially on the first run due to a large amount of data being downloaded.

Job done. Now create another ARMA2 shortcut and change the shortcut setting to;
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2\arma2-ACE.exe" -noSplash -noFilePatching -showScriptErrors -mod=@ACE;@ACEX;@ACEX_PLA;@ACEX_SM;@CBA



Your original shortcut will run ARMA2 (or using the Steam games piece), your new shortcut will fire up the ACE2 version. Alternatively you can use the launcher as part of the first file you downloaded.

The game? yup. I tried playing it from its selophane-wrapped box but it wasn't having any of it  :wink:

Flippancy aside, all you need to do is install the game then patch it up to our server standard which is 1.5 I believe. (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

That can be done from HERE.

It's a great game and once you get into it then you won't look back.

The ACE mod is basically a realism mod. It changes weapons/general effects etc. The reason we investigated it (and we do have an ACE server running) was as it gives us a lot more scope for missions to download onto the server. The reason we aren't using it at present is as we are trying to keep things as vanilla as possible to make jumping in as easy as possible.

There may be a day when we switch, but for now we run and play on the vanilla setup.
