Punkbuster initialisation failed

It used to work and after the updarte it doesn't. :ranting2:

Searched for the post about Punkbuster and where to download it but can't find it. Anyone remember the details?
I do exactly what the little voices tell me to.

PC Specs:- Black box with some fans that go whirrr, a few lights, things inside that get warm, headphones, keyboard (a clicky one), mouse (with buttons and no squeak), disks (2-off SSD and HDD) and a monitor of sufficient proportions.

Snooks,

If you have the steam version,

Download pbsetup from evenbalance.

Unzip the file install if needed and agree to the terms.

Locate the installation location of your bc2 folder click update and your pb will update.

If you at any point get kicked randomly out of game try a pb update it worked for me :)

Whatever you do don't drag the new pb to the bc2 folder in the steam directory as you game files will think they have changed and the game will start re-downloading in full.

I actually bought a real DVD and got it cheaper and faster than going via Steam! :D
 
But that aside. I had a look at the PB site and couldn't work out which of the options was the best so downloaded the pbsetup exe. I've run that but not actually tried getting on our server. I will endeavour to try tonight and let you know how I got on.

I regularly get kicked and lose stats for stopped heartbeats.  It has so far sent be running back to other games at least onc eper day despite posted solutions.  You'd think the piece of **** software would at least be written so as not to DC people all the time.  Seriously peeved with PB.

Well it's back to normal now.
pbsetup.exe seems to have fixed it and I have had no PB issues.

Punkbuster is a terrible bit of software that'll kick you for no reason, it has no place in the modern gaming world, but updating did fix some early problems I had with it.
Juggling Hard Disks over concrete floors ends in tears 5% of the time.
