Tonight was a good night for the server

Well after a couple of hours i worked out how to make a new profile remove punkbuster and get the server running with all the thrills and spills as before.

In all we now have two profiles one without punkbuster to allow publics to join due to the punkbuster problems that i have been made aware of and one with when punkbuster is fixed.

Until such a time as punkbuster is fixed we will run with punkbuster off as we have now have a solid admin base.

Also i have discovered why the server died roughly every two hours as there was a auto restart feature every 2 hours enabled this has now been set to 12 hours and will be set at 2pm at some point so that it restarts at 2am to minimise disruption.

We can now move forward knowing that the server does fill with punkbuster off but remains relatively empty when switched on.

EA and DICE will definetly find a way to make it worse.

The server can still be ranked however if i password the server it has to be unranked.

Turning PB off makes the server unraked by default. I read about it on EA/Dice forums that its not permanent tho, but sadly atm its something we need to deal with.

Btw Scott, R10 is incoming soon, hope you have time off to fix the server again.

Playing last night with PB off, ranks etc still seemed to be working - surely this means the server is still ranked?

They expect a server patch this week to fix the PB problem, as without PB the server is unranked and nobody levels.  As Valdeko says, this is stated in the DICE notes.  Perhaps you level in-game as normal but progress is not saved?  Otherwise I have no idea why you level with PB off as that is contrary to the current server notes.

Well we had PB "off" and the server was still ranked, so i dono, some clitch or something.

Server is still ranked even with pb off.

I moved up several ranks aswell as others and we all got to keep our new badges and rank's despite punkbuster being switched off.
