Are you plugged into your master socket and what type of router do you have?

If it's a zyxel it'll tell you your attenuation, if not....post it up and let's see what people can offer...oh, and just thought, low ping but no throughput, have you been downloading a lot?

Is your line limited after downloading a certain amount? I'm on Virgin broadband and after downloading more than 2 gb in a hour they cut my speed to 1/10 of the speed...... apparantly if i upgrade ill get it removed (yeah right..)

no im not being limited according to bt

anyway here is there speed tester result

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.

Download  Speed
83 Kbps

0 Kbps   250 Kbps
Max Achievable Speed

Download speedachieved during the test was - 83 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 50-250 Kbps.
 Additional Information:
 Your DSL Connection Rate :8128 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 135 Kbps

how is 50-250 kbps acceptable on an 8 meg line......

That there is your problem.

I'm guessing that you had some noise on your line, or something that has caused your router to re-sync several times and one of those times would have been at a real low speed (below 250kbps) and that has forced your IP Profile to just 135 kbps.

You can either wait for 7-10 days with a stable line for the system to re-set or get your ISP to do it for you.

However, if you've an intermittent line fault, then this may happen again. I know what it's like as I've had a similar problem and this was only resolved when I had a new cable put in from the pole to my house as this was damaged and causing a really noisy line whenever it rained!
