so as some of you may have seen we have had our last css game tonight, so i ask the question do we out of respect for the game and as it is still on the server as a secondary game let everyone keep their cs player icons in their profile or delete it

i favour keeping it as so as in say 5/10 yrs time new players join and go......wwhhhooo he played cs

thoughts?

I hate to admit that I agree with Sulky but I think this is a proper idea..

We've all earned it..

Well I could make a very special limited GOTY edition steel box Golden Badge to wear with honour forever more?

Vetran badge to replace it?

Sounds like a good idea. However here's a question. I haven't played CS for quite a while, so I don't have a CS badge. However I used to play it all the time and was a regular player and admin on the dMw Forums. So should I get a veterans badge in recognition of having played the game or should I not get one as I was 'not there at the end'?. In a year none of us will have played CS for a long while yet some will have the badge and some will not?

I'm not hugely bothered either way but it's worth thinking about as many of the community at some point were avid players of CS, just not here at the end.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

Does my eloquent response suffice? :)

I don't see why you no longer have the badge. I thought it was a sign that you have the game and have reached a standard of gameplay that has been recognised by the admins.
If you don't play it for a while, you'll still have the game and experience you gained.

so do we honour the game or not? Maybe have a poll??

Don't think we need one really. No one is arguing that we lose the badge :D.

I'll talk with Blunt and see what he wants to do but I think we'll probably just revert everyone to a green badge and rename that one accordingly to CS Veteran or something.

tried this BBC2 out and for all the lovely graphics and gadgets it still doesn't touch cs for gameplay / tactics (even though i havnt given BBC2 a proper try really or found a working headset to try out some tactics). Nothing compares to the old delayed rushes or everyone through the vent tactics on CS...

In terms of a replacement to CS:S it fails in many ways, but in terms of a game it is vastly superior in many ways. The levels are large enough to employ proper tactics, graphics are infinitely better, the kits mean that you have to work with your team if you are going to be successful etc etc. The "Tactical" elements of CS:S we're quite simply telling people not to loop back behind the bombers or hostage takers not rushing out. Where as the tactics in BC2 involve coordinating inside squads, and between them to ensure your resources work best for your team. Having 16 Snipers won't do you much good when someone flying in with a helicopter on the site. Same thing if you've got 16 engineers with tracer darts and RPGs if the enemy decide to pick you off with a few snipers and come in with a squad of medics/assaults to set and hold the bombsite.
Plus it's all very well locking down the site with a few well placed people in the site, but a tank or some engineers can just rock up and take the whole building down.

CS:S wasn't really tactical, it was a different way of playing the same game. Whilst it's very hard to do that currently on BC2 we're going to try and get some regulars who all play the same way and do the very CS:S idea of stopping frag hunting and encouraging working as a team. Whilst the game is already far more tactical in terms of the actual meaning of the word, the gameplay is very much the standard BC2 type that you can find elsewhere and the admins are working on it.

P.S: BBC2 is a TV channel here in the UK, it's best to refer to the game as BF:BC2 or just BC2 for short.
