Folks,

Most of you will soon or have already realised that I've increased the tickets on Conquest maps to 500.

I've been speaking to GhostMjr who's responsible for new game research and he's spent some time on conquest servers with 1000 tickets recently.

Long maps give the opportunity to get big points. Also, as it's more of a marathon it requires different tactics to succeed. Indeed the lead can change hands more than once on big ticket games.

For the next week I'd like you go to give it a try and give us me your feedback. There's only three conquest maps in the rotation.

At then end of 4th March I want to see if we should keep the rotation as is or make further changes.

Thanks,

NF

Weirdly it was starting above 500 tickets.

Overall I think we all enjoyed it.

Certainly different and thanks for allowing it a try.

The only real problem is by the end of the map all the buildings are generally flat so it has an normal urban conflict to begin with then a desolated town conflict later on.

First off, it was nice to play on the other maps.  I pretty much only play on our server now so haven't seen 'em for a while. So a for the new rotation.

The higher ticket count is a little more tricky.

On White Pass, as GhostMjr says, it's pretty much full destruction by the end which isn't a problem.  If you can keep your teams Bradley alive and deal quickly with the enemies then you can own two of the three flags fairly easily.  The only downside for me it its full on all the time (kinda the same way some of the Nam maps can be).

Panama Canal came up next (after i think a couple of rush maps) and we saw a bit of an exodus from the server loosing almost half the server including quite a few dMw.  Not sure if this was down to the late hour (or rather early hour of the morning) or the fact it was 500 tickets and ppl didn't want to play another long game.  However, the server soon filled back up.  Again an enjoyable game but not quite as fast paced as White Pass.  I noticed the use of a lot more mines than in the usually game.

Have yet to play on Atacama Desert.  Not sure if i'll enjoy a longer game here as i find the glare on this map somewhat annoying but we'll see.

I have only previously played high ticket games on the large maps like Heavy Metal (which btw i think makes for one of the best games going) and while not as fast paced as White Pass & Panama Canal were last night there was always action to be had, just not in your face all the time.

So overall positive, definitely enjoyed playing last night.  Will be interesting to see if we get a repeat of the exodus when we start the second conquest map of an evening again.

Almost forgot, I asked De Blob and Cheese Puff what they thought of the high ticket maps (not sure which ones they played last night) and got the response "Wow! It was amazing"  :D

Most of us bailed because of the obvious length of starting a 500 ticket game along with the lateness of the hour.

After working through two earlier 500's we knew it was going to be a long haul and bugged out.
