I've been looking into a possible LAN XX merch idea, which might also be used for subsequent LAN's.

-=[dMw]=- Personalised dogtags.

There's an eBay dogtag engraver that does 2 tags front and back 5x15 chars, on stainless steel tags with rubber surrounds and chain.

Some seem to use the traditional aluminium and punch set, but you are stuck with single sided and a restricted character set, this one engraves both sides and doesn't specify any restrictions.

Also you could have a few competition winners tags made up to give to the winners of the competitions.

We could Get the tags in pairs but have a single attendee on each, or do two of the same, eBay cost is £4 a set, we could add a little to the cost to pay for the winners tags and decide on whether two or just one tag for.

For example

Attendee tag

       Side 1
---------------
  -=[dMw]=-
      Liberator
LAN XX - 2011
---------------

      Side 2

30th   September
 - 2nd October
           ****
Oliver Cromwell
         Hotel.

Competition winner

       Side 1
***************
-=[dMw]=-
    GAME WINNER
LAN XX - 2011
***************

Side 2
***************
*   1st Place  *
* DEAGLE COMP *
*     WINNER.         *
***************

What do you think, just 5x15 per side.

I could get one made up and bring to this LAN.

NOTE: The forum editor is taking out double spaces, so it looks a little different from what I typed.

Here's the sellers item on eBay.

This sounds like a grand idea. Dog tags would be a nice memento of our twentieth LAN, fit nicely with the Deadmen Walking soldier concept and probably be reasonably priced. Good call.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

I do exactly what the little voices tell me to.

PC Specs:- Black box with some fans that go whirrr, a few lights, things inside that get warm, headphones, keyboard (a clicky one), mouse (with buttons and no squeak), disks (2-off SSD and HDD) and a monitor of sufficient proportions.

Great idea, do it gets my vote :)

I'm an idea machine today, if we go for tags, get everyone who gets one has to have two, then have a knock out PvP game of some type, 2nd tag goes to the victor of the round.

Winner gets the other players tag as a trophy until they are knocked out an lose their tag, the overall winner then gets the tags of all his victories and gets to keep his own.

A sort of Dog-Tag cup PvP.

Obviously only the people who buy the tags get entry.

I'd also like to investigate the t-shirt and the stein options this time around as we might get a decent level of demand from the combined ranks of both LAN attendees and the DMR people.

Perhaps a goodie-bag.....

I've received a set of Dog-Tags, I think they look good.

I'll bring them to the LAN for viewing, I stuck the XIX info on there, obviously keep them secret.

I'll see if I can get a good photo to post.

Text is on a 5x15 matrix, it's unjustified, full keyboard characterset and centering is justified for the even length lines.

Guys.. With all this talk about merchandise I was thinking about cost for LAN XX itself.

Do you think we should increase the LAN cost and include the merchandise in the price? It is a momentus occasion..

TeaLeaf

We'll talk more at the LAN, Pen and I have a cunning plan.....

Yes very nice (apart from the typo).

Only j/k but I bet I made you look again lol

We have some great ideas, the dog tags, and TL had some ideas as well which I will let him put out there as they are his gems :)  But I would like to make a move on this, as it sometimes gets lost and then brought back to life 3 weeks before the LAN.

So ideas in the hat and lets get this going it going to be special and we need it to shine :)

Did some ringing around whilst reading through the CAMRA newspaper,, it had a few places that made beer festival glasses so I thought they were worth a try.  This one seemed pretty decent and might be worth following up, family-owned business and nice to talk to on the phone.  Interestingly they do a Stein!

Teh scale is misleading, the stein is 1.3L, the 'pints' are 20oz, 24oz and 20oz from left to right (skipping the 1.3L stein.
