I've decided it's time to replace my ageing, but otherwise excellent set of Sennheiser cans for something a bit beefier.

The Steelseries Siberia V2's have caught my eye, and the reviews look good. Has anyone got a pair of these? What are your thoughts? Is it worth going for the USB virtual 7.1 option?

I already have a 5.1 soundcard in my PC, has anyone come across any gotchas when using a USB headset alongside an existing soundcard?

Any other reccomendations would be more than welcome.

Ive got a set of these Corsair USB jobbies and they are fine for gaming, dont know what they are like for music and films etc as I use my HD650s for this.

I have my USB headphones set as my default sound device and my soundcard as secondary, that way whenever I plug the usbs in they work without having to change anything in windows, and like wise I unplug them and it reverts to my soundcard.

I have further complicated my set up by plugging a set of speakers into the front panel, this needs switching to via the Xonar software.

ArithonUK

Bought a Creative HS-1000 Fatal1ty USB X-Fi Gaming Headset with Detachable Noise-Cancelling Microphone last month and I'm pleased with it.

Detachable boom mic and comfortable over-head headphones. Operates as an independent sound system when plugged in. Good sound tone and plenty of bass. Has a volume switch and mic mute button on the lead.

Karrde has a pair like them he seems pretty happy with them.

I had the same headset as ArithonUK  and despised it straight away. The ear cups were too small for my liking and the whole thing didn't feel too great in general construction (not super cheap, but I couldn't find a good way of packing it when not in use without worrying about it breaking in bumped). Fortunately it stopped working (the USB side just stopped talking to the PC after a while so I got a refund).
I replaced it with a Roccat Kave which isn't USB, but is far more comfortable for me to wear and the sound quality is much higher.

It has 21 reviews on OCUK and gets 5 Stars, and I'd rate it that too. Can't comment on the others as I've only used two headsets.
