I have in mind to speak to Rob (Manager) to get him to use his minibus to pick up people from Stansted if we have sufficient numbers arriving/departing at the same time.  He offered to use his minibus on the Saturday for us to go somewhere for 'an event' for the cost of his fuel, but with some sweet-talking who knows.

Hence the thread to see who needs what, but hopefully we'll sort things with just lil' ole us doing the driving.

Talked to Rob this morning.  I asked him to be a safety net for the Sunday Stansted trip in case we could not sort lifts ourselves.  So in extremis, he'll use the minibus to get them back, we sort his costs.  Before making that offer public let's see how many get sorted with individual lifts from members.

Good call

I'm happy to run people back to Stansted so long as their flight doesn't leave early as we're normally the last to leave once everything is sorted.

This is something we had difficulty with at Scouts.

The law did state you can use a minibus to transport people without needing a minibus licence however, this is only for no financial gain can't remember what it said for people who do have a licence.

To be honest it confused me when I was taking people to and from uni in a minibus but thats what it was.

What I'm trying to say is if we do get Rob to do use the minibus he can't get any financial gain out of it.

Anyway it might be worth asking the DVLA or maybe I am going to deep into it.

Tbh, that's Rob's issue not ours imo.  If he makes the offer it is his liability.  In any case, he already has the minibus and it is used for an old peoples' home, so I presume he is already properly covered.

I'm getting a bit concerned about Slush's return trip on Sunday.

The inbound flight he'll survive, he can get a train and it's 1hr 10 mins to March plus a short cab ride on the Friday evening, so we should see him before 9.00pm.

The outbound flight is a different matter.  I've checked the Sunday morning train times and basically in order to get to Stansted by Sunday lunchtime he needs to leave March on Saturday night.  Is there anyway either Ninja or Toby can try to work out where people are driving in from and then see if we can possibly button-hoel someone to pick up the Sunday morning return trip?      The alternative will inevitably be me doing a March to Stansted, back to March, pick up my next load and then down to Heathrow, then reverse direction again and head back to Milton Keynes - and that's beginning to sound like an overly-generous day.

Suggestions?

Are there any Sunday trains from Cambridge or another bigger town that might do? It may be easier to get a volunteer to take Slush there?
I do exactly what the little voices tell me to.
