After a week, how are you finding the server in "hardcore" mode?

I voted I love it...makes the game feel different and harder..more of a challenge :)

Some of the perks are useless in hardcore mode (advanced spotting etc) and I feel its less team-based as the spotting element has gone. It feels more "you" against the other team like CoD. BF is different due to the team based controls and gameplay and this mode makes it feel a big different.

I do like the more realistic weapon physics though as you should be able to get a one hit kill with the snipers and shotguns close up.

In truth Hardcore makes it more of a team and squad based game it promotes better use of comms and squad management due to the fact that things such as advanced spotting are off and running over your own team mate is very easily done(TwoBad) :). You cannot go running around all guns blazing or dropping C4 on the MCOM because your more likely to wipe out your own team as you are the enemy.

Tutonic

Snipers have gone from irritating, to seriously annoying.

Also, I quite miss not being able to tag enemy players for my team - that's a pain.

Can we adjust it at all? A lot of things on Hardcore I really like such as weapons, TKs and no spotting makes the game far more realistic. But it can quickly turn into an absolute snipe/frag fest. I don't know what to suggest or adjust. Maybe just more pop ups defining the rules like no spawn raping...

Trying having a word with Ninja and see if the limit for snipers can be turned on, that's one way of stopping it from becoming a snipe fest.

You can still spot the enemy (useful when camping/sniping) and still get points i suggested a snipe limit but dont think people were too keen on it? (As many people use c4 mortar, radar with a shotgun or machie gun for example) WHICH i understand where there coming from but i think it would still be a good idea for a sniper limit (set to say 5? would be a fair number for RUSH MAPS ONLY) what do you lot think?

Also with regards to the teamwork side of it i think you wrong and i will tell you why now.

Hardcore is harder thats why its hardcore and working in a squad is much better than beng a lone ranger and as dMw. Want to encourage teamwork during gameplay i feel that hardcore promotes this becuase lets face it being a lone ranger on attacking on a rush map will get you nowhere (You'd proberly) get away with it on conquest maps but you will always get less points unless the lone ranger follows his team mates.

Even if your the best player in the world (which of course i am) you will always get more points in a squad and i think more enjoyment out the game - Teamspeak enhances the teamwork moreso with clan members and lets face it the majority of regulars on the server (dMw. Members, MrBort etc) will always squad up with dMw. members and join teamspeak (teamspeak helps alot with teamwork).

I dont know about anyone else but since the likes of the battlefield series starting from bf2 ive always enjoyed using teamwork during gameplay to win the objective/map and always look to join a good squad (anyone with enough sense does this) i dont think
teamwork is lost JUST becuase its hardcore. Theres in game comms for the public and squadchat (its up to them if they want to use it and use teamwork with that) if not you join another squad.

& sometimes people/public want to be lone rangers (fair enough, wouldnt recommend it) and it doesnt work it shows with the scoreboards at the end of the round.

The problem is when you are playing with Pubs on your squad in hardcore mode. If you are on TS with dMwers this is not a problem but with pubs on hardcore it does feel like you are on your own due to lack of spotting etc. The gun physics and game is better like this but I just want the non voice teamwork to be added back as this encourages teamplay.

the majority of time there will be a dMw. with you failing this see if they have in voice comms.

Thought I’d reserve my judgement until I’d played it a little more.

I have to say having been sceptical of HC before playing it, I absolutely love it.  The team play is working well even with publics.  I know there are some who will join your squad and then go off on their own hiding at the back of the map somewhere with their sniper rifle just to frag hunt but is that just a HC problem?  I think not.  My personal experience is the ppl playing HC know what’s required to play well and step up to the mark.

One very good example I had was a few nights ago, server is full and I’m in a squad of 3 dMw and 1 public.  We were attacking on Harvest Day second set of m-coms and I remember think how well we were ALL working together as we flanked to the left.  We were all staying together covering each other as we moved up.

Yes snipers can be a problem but if one is available jump in a tank with long range optics, no more sniper problem.  If not, spawn somewhere else!  The only time I’ve had real problems with snipers is on some of the large open maps, urban maps they can loose their advantage very quickly.  But in any case, HC or SC you'll still get some who want to play like that but in SC they can stay alive for ages coz they can regenerate health, not so easy for them in HC!

One thing I have noticed is a change in the balance of play.  On the whole in SC a rush map will be won by the attackers, I have found the advantage has swung back to the defenders and I like it.  As a defender I now feel I have a good chance to win even against a good attacking force whereas in SC you feel its normally just a matter of time.  As an attacker it's great, you now have a real challenge to win needing to use tack ticks rather than just firepower. I have also found myself using weapons that in SC I just couldn't get on with.

So, HC makes for: new tack ticks, better teamwork even with publics, new game play styles (different load outs) and better balanced game play.

Hardcore gets my vote.

Guys,

What if we look into a slight alteration and bring back the radar?

TheDvEight

I Love hardcore so will leave it up to the rest, Twobad makes a good point though.

Well I am loving it... Even the other night when I got my arse handed to me for 5 rounds in a row.
Its a different game, and you can see peoples play styles changing.
Going from mindless hip shooting out in the open, to using cover and maneuvering.

Love it.

Admin guys need to be on the ball though with spawn camping/killing.

Would like to hear what the juniors think about it :)
