Oh and what is the standard newbie update?

Not 100% sure of what it actually contains but it was the top option in the buy menu. Contains cannons, hull plates, scanner, auto-repair and stuff. The description suggested it was a good first upgrade for new players.
I do exactly what the little voices tell me to.

PC Specs:- Black box with some fans that go whirrr, a few lights, things inside that get warm, headphones, keyboard (a clicky one), mouse (with buttons and no squeak), disks (2-off SSD and HDD) and a monitor of sufficient proportions.

Go to Number 8, the Chinese girl in the station and choose to buy. Then with hold selected drag it to a free slot.

So you can only move/install stuff while docked? That could have been why it didn't work.

Yep out in space you can only resource up your ammo via right click on the weapons icons. Watch all but lowest spec ammo requires Cubits to buy.

Move all stuff around whilst docked. Store anything you don't need immediately in your locker or.there items will get damaged if you are killed. Less you have in your locker the less damage taken the less Titanium required to fully repair.

Drag from hold to slot whilst on the buy view to equip.

I'd love to but I'm a bit stuck in the game and would appreciate a bit of guidance. I'll be online tonight if someone wouldn't mind helping me with some of the basics.

I won't be online until late tonight but I'm sure that Lib would only be too willing to help. We used TS last night when we messed about and that helps a lot.

You may want to take a shufftie here, http://en.board.bigpoint.com/bgo/forumdisplay.php?f=1919, lots of good information.

Have you completed the training missions? I think the last one is to mine a planetoid..

I'll try to be on tonight as well although I have no real clue what I'm doing. I'm mainly trying to find quests.

Thats just the last one before you level up enough to accept more from Al.. err Dr Wellington Yueh.... no, Cavil aka Number One.

I took a trip to a sector under attack last night, and quickly jumped back out again those were big shipd and battles.

Main thing seems to be to listen to the music change and hit 'x' to lock onto any threats, so far I've stayed away from the real humans and just been shooting NPC's.

Got myself some upgraded weapons and a missile launcher now.

Level 8 - Enhanced Optio v3.1.

I'm guessing new ships will cost a fortune in cubits, mainly so they can get you to fork over real cash.

I got rid of the wing later that night, so there isn't one at the mo'.

Suppose I could create another.

I came into this world with nothing,
through careful management I\'ve got most of it left.

Lib - you're a star. All sorted and what good fun that was. Hooked.

I now need 600,000 Tylium to get a nice big assault ship to hurt people.

Reached Decurion V1.0 (level 10) last night after a tootle around the systems.

While I was looking around 3 Colonial line ships warped in and attacked a mining rig on a local planetoid, they called in their own mine and sat there guarding it, I did a few foolhardy runs at them and pulled away to lick my wounds with about 20 hull left.

They went off to kill some of our ships in the system, so I sneaked in and attacked their mine, huge explosion and loads of XP, rocketed me over the level 10 threshold.

I'm liking this a lot.
