I only ask as since October there has been minimal to no people playing, apart from the 3 weeks ago  when we got 4 and last sunday 11th when we got 3 that has been it. I am starting to get a bored sitting in TS every ARMA night waiting for someone...anyone to join, so my poll is above

Sorry admins, I  have had enough of sitting alone in TS

Really sorry mate but I am working UK hours then US hours at the moment and the RL commitment of holding down a job to pay the bills has to come first.

Would be great to have a game with you guys, but things are mad at the moment and Xmas will also mean a break from gaming when I visit family. Hopefully in the new year things should sort themselves out!

I don't think it is dead yet but I agree it has been v quiet.

I know I have been away and real life has got in the way for everything dMw or otherwise.  But not just for me but for the others admins as well and there is nothing we can do about that.

Also the arrival of a load of new games has also taken it effect on the regular numbers.

It was suggested that we drop it to one might instead of the usual 2.

Also we don't have the maps or the ability to change them the way we like to play.

So where do we go from here? I suggest seeing the numbers for the xmas fun and also consider dropping it to the one night.  I think also that interest will return when Arma 3 is released in the summer.

I hope that this answers some of you points mate and I have tried to let people know when I can't make it.  True some have been short notice but sometime can't help it mate.

Between work being hellish (thanks, IBM) and moving house, I haven't had the time/energy to play as much as I would have liked.

It looks like most of our regulars have moved onto newer games (BSG, BF3 and that boring Star Wars game that nobody likes), this is to be expected as Arma II starts to age.

If we could get some new missions (either downloaded or made/modified by us) it might help to freshen things up a bit, then people might start coming onto the server again.

If that doesn't happen, I'm afraid I can't see any improvement in numbers until Arma III appears (which looks to be a long way off).

I've not made a concious decision to stop playing Arma II. I'm currently down with a stomach bug, hence no gaming last night. I think one night a week (Tuesday) would be an idea and new maps is always good. Sadly though Arma still seems to suffer from being very flakey. There are some very popular maps that some of us cannot seem to play and it's obviously wrong to select them and effectively boot players out. So we're limited to the maps on offer. Add in Xmas and the addition of the new games we support and I can understand why it's quiet. That being said Arma has had a hell of a run and done us proud. My best dMw moments have usually been on Arma :D

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

There comes a time when everyone has to accept the natural passing of a game. That said, instead of all blathering about lack of x and missing y the choice is simple. Invest some effort and make your own maps, edit configs etc. It's really not hard and I genuinely mean that. If I can do it...

I've dropped off the face of the planet for a bit, mergers, acquisitions, hiring and firing, it's all great fun, but in the evening I just want to beat the missus and hug my meat, or something like that. If you want the game to be popular, get some traction, open some challenges, do some marketing. Christmas will show dropping numbers anyway and as is always the case, the general core of players is ageing and we aren't getting new ones interested in the older games. I've made a couple of promises to turn up, that I have broken, for which I apologise.

CS was given the kiss of life numerous times. If you want Arma to work, get in there and make it work for you. Create small 2 man missions and enjoy. As Smilo said, some of my best gaming moments have been on Arma, more in particular in some of the smaller more intimate maps where there's been 2/3 people.

I will now retreat from whence I came and grace you again in a years time.

There's obviously a 'light coming on' moment in making maps for Arma. And I've not found it. I can design static maps like a champion but the scripting has me completely beaten. I spent an entire Saturday trying to script a simple IED at the side of the road and a sniper who stayed put in a building with no success at all. what puts me off trying now is that Arma 3 is on the way and I hear map making is a doddle.

I don't normally have time to dedicate a few hours to mucking about with a mission editor. Not without the missus becoming enraged, anyway.

I might have a stab at making something over Christmas though. Are there any decent tutorials out there?

Can you run the mission editor without having to download the entire AII game on Steam? If I could just slap the editor on my laptop that would be ideal - I'm not going to have access to my PC for most of Christmas.

Love you, Benny :(

Guys i could see the way arma 2 OA was going with DMW hence my absence, a few things need a vote again! We must all recall the vote on wether to use arma 2 or not  was a success in favour to use but overruled  by the admin/admins? Not exactly democratic that and to say it ruffled a few feathers was an understatement. If we have a locked server with minimal addons that the hardcore of arma 2 players want to use [i feel a democratic vote coming on again] the A2 community will thrive helping the newer players will become part n parcel of this as it does in any gaming community, yes you will still get lots run off when cod26 or bf 27 comes out with its glitzy graphics and great marketing but for a real warfare simulator with community driven addons and scenarios im afraid any gaming company will tell you there is only room for one arma in the market.
PS if you havent tried Arma 2 insurgency on the 12km square map called fallujah by the end of the week you are seriously lacking something from your gaming war chest
