I just finished the last episode (#6) of this. I'm not a history buff at all, but was taken in by Dan Carlin's voice and manner of speaking - so maybe others may be too :)
He does a variety of other topics too, and there are a bunch of these shows on RadioPublic, so I'm sure they'll be on other podcast players too.

Not the same without Layne Staley. William DuVall does an admirable job though, the vibe is there and he's eerily similar in style.

Your post sent me on an old-school AIC kick, I'm on my third listen-through of the 1992 album Dirt today.

No one will ever replace Layne.

Dirt is one of my fav albums. and the MTV unplugged of that album is one of the best also.

Just listed to an hour 20 of this, fairly enjoyed it actually, never go on with their sound electric but the bass was amazing in this. Good atmosphere and bit of banter as well.
Cheers, Bert

Apparently, he now has the seal of approval :)

Pink Floyd - Alan Parsons Project

Well. You just know I had to click that link. Two great bands and a clever piece of mixing but I wasn't blown away by it. Probably because ABITW isn't one of my favourite Floyd tracks.

Got sent this today. Interesting both visually and musically, though far from my normal fare.

Need to up my pace at work today, and what works better than the unholy blend of Norwegian rock&roll, punk and metal that is Kvelertak?

One of their older songs this time. Mjød (Mead). A little song about how the gods gave us alcohol :)
Dual meaning, since they're referring to when Odin stole the mead of the jotun Suttung, the Mead of Poetry. Anyone who drank it became a bard :p
