Then you have the two sequels to read, as well as the rest of the riftwar series, and a multitude of others. All are fantastic reads!

I didn't really enjoy the Pug series myself. Personally I preferred the later instalments with Jimmy the Hand etc.

Anyway, certainly worth a read.

Enjoyed them all, especially Pug & Tomas starting out. Been many years reading Midkemia stories :)

Thanks Toby. Loaded on my Kindle. From the comments it looks like it could be the first of many :thumb:

Duuude Magician is fantastic! I'd also recommend the Conclave of Shadows which is set in the same universe classic revenge flick with a twist :)

If you haven't I'd also recommend the Belgariad and Malloreon series by David Eddings
it\'s not my fault if every one runs into my sights :D:byebye::roflmao:

I have loaded all of Raymond E Feist onto my rooted Nook Simple Touch.

Going to start Magician right after I finish my current read. =) Doing a lot of hanging about in airports at the moment so lots of reading time.

Yepp hence my recent flights out of and to London city to the big financial hubs of Europe like Frankfurt (horrible place, the German Basingstoke with a hint of Slough) and Zurich.
I think the best investment I have made in a Long time are some decent noise cancelling headphones and my £35 touch-screen e-reader from the US which runs pretty much any Android 3.1 app but in black and white. With those I can just about stay sane when doing a 23 hour day and spending 20 of the 23 hours travelling and 3 in a meeting. If this keeps up I will be through all of Riftwars in no time.

Toby, I'm expecting a decent read here. I've finished off my current staple* and have loaded up the Magician. I've never got on with fantasy books, unless you count 'Forum' which came in A5 format and sat on the top shelf with Maria Whittaker on the front, so this is a diversion for me.

If it's anything like that Pullman tripe then I'll be coming to your house with a sculpted life size Muffalo** or whatever they were and sticking it gently but firmly into your sculpted derrière.

*Staple being - Baldacci, Grisham, Ludlum, McNab, that other bloke and autobiographies. Current staple being Zero Hour by Baldacci which was pretty good if you like that kind of thing. Conspiracy, nuclear thread, secret agents and tough guys. I am by proxy a tough guy, that's why I'm now a Beaver leader for my kid, but in truth I've been leading beavers on for a long time...
** Muffalo = Mulefa. Crap either way, don't get me started on that, I feel another diatribe coming on.

Chris Ryan?  I really liked McNab's Nick Stone series.

Fantasy books wise, my favourite authors are

David Gemmell (all and everything). Druss The Legend, Waylander
David Eddings (Belgariad and Mallorean. Was less keen on the Elenium and Tamuli series)
Raymond E Feist (as above)
Terry Brooks (Sword of Shannara series and Magic Kingdom for Sale - Sold!)
Harry Turtledove (Videssos Cycle - about the missing IX Legion transported to fantasy world)
Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman (Dragonlance series).

Other to consider include:

Piers Anthony (Split Infinity series)
Alan Dean Foster
Terry Goodkind (Wizard's First Rule series)
Orsen Scott Card (Ender series).

Non-fantasy fiction:

Lindsey Davis (Marcus Didius Falco. Sent in Ancient Rome. The Silver Pigs is the first one).
Bernard Cromwell

I have a truck load of books from all these authors if you're into hard copies if you'd like to borrow some.
