Just spotted this on CS Nation:

The newest version of Private Players has been released today. For those who don't know, Private Players is a server plug-in which allows server admins to decide which players can play on their CS server by simply entering the WonID of the players into a MySQL database. Version 0.30 now allows admins to specify who can connect to their servers, give priority to these registered players, or specify how many known players must be connected to accept unregistered ones.

We could set up MH1 with this to dictate who can play on there. But this would play hell with our clan matches so maybe we need to have MH2?

I'm assuming that BA could handle that.

Should be easy enough if we get a teamlist with WONIDs before the game - and I don't mean 5 mins before... :roll:

I can see that being more trouble than it's worth.

Even if I could get the WONIDs of all the oppo they would need to be entered before then removed after every clan match.  :(

I don't suppose there is anything as simple as an 'off' command for it so that we can run the clan matches in safety?  I would have thought that something like that would have been included as matches are not exactly going to be a surprise to the writers...... I'll go read about it and see.

Seems that there is a control switch for it:

v0.30 ChangeLog :
° added abilty to (de)activate p2 (p2_active cvar)
° added several working modes, set by p2_type cvar :
- 0 : server will only accept known players
- 1 : server will accept all players; if a known player connects when the server is full, the highest ping unknown player (if any) will be kicked
- 2 : server will only accept unknown players when there are at least (cvar)p2_min known players
- 3 : combination of types 1 & 2
*warning* one slot will be reserved for types 1 & 3 ; maximum number of players will be (cvar)maxplayers-1
° added ability to lock configuration after automatic load at map start (server rentals : write-protect config files, then prevent your customers from changing anything)

I say it's probably worth using on the basis that it can be changed for matches.  It is also useful to ensure that an admin can always get on to the server as the house has been getting some fairly full recently  :lol:

BTW did I see mention it supports a SQL database for the lookup of wonids?  I could so easily write a web frontend to manage a mysql database..... or maybe it has that built in?

...so with the new server a few days away:

(a) do we use [Ad] or not - what was the final decision?
(B) is it worth getting an instruction list out for whatever mods we will be having installed so that we can have a gander pre-installation?

black-adder will easily support a regular MH server plus an additional one to use when we have clan matches....

Like has been said, we need some organisation on mods etc...

Also what they called?

FYI The new server will be known as both "homer" and "black-adder" in the DNS, we cant upset all those HL bookmarks pointing to homer.deadmen.co.uk now can we :-)
