QuoteHiya guys,
after a  chat via personal messaging ( not in-game ) with one of the admins, he suggested I contact you.
I have an issue with Dingo's use of voice comms. In short, it irritates the shit out of me :) He seems to monopolize the comms with any drivel that enters his mind, and several times this week I have tried to pass on some immediate tactical info that has been drowned out or not heard due to his jabbering. I do admit that he may have some valid points  to make, but they do not need repeating over and over at the expense of other team members' calls for assistance or enemy sighted etc
Being the new guy here, if I am the only one to complain, then please ignore this and I'll learn to live with it as I don't like causing trouble. But, as I am an easy going person usually, for me to mail you, then some other members must be about ready to suck their own eyeballs out in frustration sometimes :)
Thanks for that, and can you do me the favour of explaining the difference between the "admins", "TCS admins" and "dMw admins" please.
              Cheers guys and great job,
                                            Pete

I had a long chat last night while playing Piranesi with Xedos and in the end of it I told him to send a message to us officially with the concerns. So here it is.

We have had this dicussion up regarding Dingo some time ago.

TL can you fomulate one of those splendid "shape up or ship out" letters? ;)

Mmmm, I was going to make a POSITIVE post about Dingo this morning based on his behaviour last night. I got the impression that he was really, really trying hard to be TCS in the spirit of things. He was regularly changing sides unrequested because he had noticed that it needed doing and was playing well as part of a team. His voice comms were, to be honest, still a bit "much" but I feel that he has also made an effort to tone them down from how they used to be.

I honestly believe that the guy is trying real hard. He is still the worst on voice comms by a long way but in light of the fact that he appears to be making such an effort can that please be brought into the email sent to him?

I do agree that the email needs to be sent. Hopefully my post will be of some help to TL when he puts the email together.

I agree with you BB. Dingo have imporved a lot in his gameplay and spirit of TCS. It is only the excessive use voicecomm that need to be corrected.

Dingo does try hard to get teamwork going but is a little overenthusiastic when using voice comms and tbh was quite funny first few times but got annoying rather quickly.

He shouldnt be knocked for the way he plays only for his use of the comms.... just a tone it down fella should do it.

Doorman

I know Dingo IRL and he's a great bloke. But even I have had to mute him on several occasions. I've even tried to tell him to stfu to no avail. But last night he was very close to 'normal' He didn't even rise to my 'smoke the roof' jibe. It felt to me as though he has realised the error of his ways. I would suggest not sending a censure email until we see if his comms have improved or last night was just a glitch.
My 2 cents

I'd agree with Doorman. To be honest my only issue with the dMw servers is that sometimes they're as quiet as the grave.

Far from telling people to be quiet I'd encourage them to take a lead and use comms more. I wasn't on last night and so can't comment directly, but as long as comms are mostly relevent to game play and objectives I would say enourage don't  object.

I'd also argue that Fridays nights are the most relaxed game nights. Many regulars have had a beer or three and we should always be more easy going on this night. It's often more fun.

Of course if Dingo was waffling away about stuff unrelated to the game then tell him to shut up, but I can't agree with anything that chastises someone for getting stuck in.

Dingo also gets frustrated with his belief that he's a poor CS player and that he rarely has a significant effect on the outcome of a round (somewhat unjustified I would say). He's commented that he does get a sense of satisfaction if he is an integral part of planning a strategy and seeing his teamates execute and win the round.

I'd strongly suggest we let this go without comment as, unless I miised something very out of character last night from Dingo, his voice comms is fine.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

OK, Exec Decision made.

We ignore this alleged faux pas and monitor.  Most of us know Dingo has improved his TCS play and tried to fit in, we also know and he has admitted to me in the past that when under the influence of a few tinnies he can get a bit too rowdy.

If we are on the server when this happens again may I suggest that we verbally ask him nicely to tone it down.  Then feedback here if there are any problems.

Will you respond to Xedos e-mail as well?

Hi Pete

Thanks for the feedback regarding our canine f®iend. We are aware of the over-amped voicecoms problem and the Admins are currently monitoring the situtation. We'll take appropriate action if necessary.

Just so you are aware, Dingo has made big efforts since he joined up to reel in his sometimes OTT exuberance and I have to mention in his defence that he has made substantial gains in all areas of his TCS play. But he would be the first to admit that he can occassionally get a bit over-excited and that's when his voicecoms become too over-bearing.

You'll be pleased to know that he does not do this on a regular basis, in fact this is only the second time that I can recall any comments being made. The first incident was some months ago (towards the beginning of the year) and led to the now infamous phrase 'I'm smoking the roof' coming into popular usage on the servers!

I hope it was an isolated incident, but we'll be watching. In the mean time don't let it put you off.

Regards (to Triniti and your baby too :D)

And yet again TL is a god.

Following on from Smilo's excellent observation about Friday nights ...

Do we need to post to the effect that Friday's now regular late-night sessions should be played in a more relaxed way?

I'm not saying that TCS should be abandoned, rather that the 'fun' element should be more the focus.

TeaLeaf

My take on that would be to say no.

Peeps know it is Friday, we all know we will wind down a bit on the servers with a beer or three, but they have enough to remember without having to know which day it is ;)  The furthest I would go is 'marketing' the evening as a 'TGIF' session, but not with any relaxation of the rules - they are already relaxed out to the max!

Thanks for that Paul. I've only seen him on server 3 times, all last week and each night he was the same, so I assumed it was a regular thing. I'm not a moaning bitch  so your words are good enough for me.
Thanks for your wishes to Ryan and Sarah..both doing well and sarah sends a hug. And, thanks for explaining the admin differences - now I know, I can plan my assault up to the top floor at dMw towers LOL ( as long as you get canteen vouchers and attractive PA )
Great work on the clan since becoming TCS. As someone who didn't see the transition, but has experienced the PCS too, the difference is remarkable.

Nice one,
Pete
Pete's reply also says a lot about the great job we have all done building this community up to its current level.  Without the support of the whole admin staff we would not have established TCS or this community as comprehensively and successfully as we have done.  So, well done peeps!

Have you ever noticed how, when you go to an event you're not looking forward to, you have a whale (why whale fgs?) of a time. And of course vice versa. These fun nights just happen don't they? I mean, you couldn't organise it or legislate for it.
