QuoteThought about that but i wasnt impressed with the refresh rate fo yours.
It did look very good but not when the action heated up
/me appears very hurt... ....but then I would say that wouldn't I?  You can have another drool at the panel at the LAN next month Smite ;-)  Anyway, let me take issue with what you said - I'll try to be as impartial as a wounded animal can be, OK?   Grrrrrr....  8O

Refresh rate is not a solid or good basis way to compare and judge LCD panels against CRT monitors, as the refresh on CRT & LCD is way different - apples and oranges etc.  What you do get on an LCD panel being driven by DVI is a more stable and much less tiring on the eyes image.  You only have to worry about LCD refresh rates being lower if you are one of the 1 in a million people that are worried by flicker from a 60Hz TV.  If you can watch TV and not get annoyed by a flickering screen then a good LCD panel will do you just fine - an LCD monitor refreshing at 75Hz+ will not hurt you at all - and your eyes won't be able to tell the difference anyway, other than they won't feel anywhere near as tired at the end of your gaming.

Yes, lack of contrast was a problem on earlier LCD panels (they had trouble doing 'real black'), but as you play CS with the gamma up anyway then this is a moot point (unless you actually want to pay for those night vision goggles!).  Current LCD panels have no probs with black.

'Pixel' size is slightly finer on a CRT as well, but I happily run mine at 1280 x 1024 and have no problems - many people won't be running at that level on their CRT!  In any case, most people run CS at a lower resolution than their monitor can run at anyway......

Now I know that somewhere out there is someone just gagging to say 'Aaah, but the slower refresh of an LCD is de facto the same thing as lagging and I'll get killed more often because of the slow refresh'.  Well, I'm sorry to disappoint whoever you are but the difference in refresh rate equates to a maximum of 0.003 seconds, and the average reaction time of a highly trained razor sharp lightning quick better than Frenzy reaction-whore is about 0.200 seconds.  So, I'll take a wild guess and say that it wasn't the 0.003 difference in refresh that killed you - you're just a crap player

So, I got all that off me chest.  I feel better at last.  And I'm glad Smite, that at the last LAN I provided you with so much leisure time by killing you REAL early on in each round so that you could gawp at people's monitors

See you on Homer!

The fact that i don't actually have an LCD is neither here nor there, but there must be some reason why i always die so quickly...

i haven't ventured an opinion yet as i don't know that much about monitors, only that like breasts, i prefer them as big as possible - but not so big that i can't fit in the same room.

Well i am glad that i posted a comment about your monitor now as it seems you really needed to get something off your chest wether it be LCD's or just hair :D

I would really like to get an LCD monitor but i have heard so many bad things concerning them, i have to admit that it was some time ago and if you remember i was very impressed with the way your loverly 18" looked (snigger snigger)

All TANGO licking aside   i am still unsure as what to buy it is a lot of money and it isnt like you can return it and say sorry i dont like it can i try another one nice Mr. Computer man
What i could do with is someone who has used or had all 3 (19-21" CRT and 18-19" LCD)

Please post your comments on a small brown paper bag which has been filled with your excrement and send it to secretsquirrel@deadmen.co.uk

I've got a 17" Samsung Syncmaster with a 0.23 dot pitch, it rocks!

The only decent LCD screen i've seen is the one that comes with an iMac, other than that I haven't seen any really good ones.
