I think I'll be playing with one, but I think there are some wrinkles to be fixed with it first, so a firmware or OS update might be inbound before I play with one - and they need to be sold in the UK which I am not yet aware they are.

I wasn't aware of any issues unless you use an iPhone or iPad where the picture can be a bit pixilated? I cut the cord (stopped watching traditional TV) a few years ago so everything is streamed now. For £30-35 it's going to be an instant impulse buy when it does come out in the UK :-)

It's quite tempting when you consider like for like HDTV's that feature the ability to stream Netflix/YouTube can be costly for what essentially this product is offering for $35.00/£50 squid.

I don't think I'm that desperate to buy a Chromecast that I'm willing to pay the inflated price. I'll happily wait till Google has sorted out the licencing deals and launches it officially in the UK

Absolute rip off. I wouldn't be tempted even at £35 since they crippled the ability to stream to it from your computer, but to try and charge 3 times the price...it's dead to me. So many alternatives that do way more. There's a market for these devices, but not for something as poorly judged as this.

Sadly the chromecast wont ever run XBMC locally, and is the sound from the plex camp states that they might not even bother. :/

Chromecast currently down to 20GBP on Amazon.
