I've just installed an IRC client for the first time ever. Having never used one before, is there any chance for a dry run for meeting at #deadmen sometime this week, unless I'm the only noob of course. I'd rather not leave it until Sunday to find out that my single remaing brain cell can't work things out.

Thanks

You can test it anytime.

When you join #deadmen you'll see Q there keeping it tidy.  8)

Yep. Found it and it works ok.

Thanks.

Q wasn't all that talkative though. I guess it must be a continuum thing.

Sheepy appears and begins to stroke my head. According to his slurred drunken speech I am "lovely and like a fuzzy felt". Thankfully he soon leaves and passes out somewhere. [/quote]

If you go to Tucows and have a shufti about you'll find at least a dozen IRCs. They recommend vIRC as a good free one.

I do exactly what the little voices tell me to.

PC Specs:- Black box with some fans that go whirrr, a few lights, things inside that get warm, headphones, keyboard (a clicky one), mouse (with buttons and no squeak), disks (2-off SSD and HDD) and a monitor of sufficient proportions.

Isnt NN just a script for mIRC?  And as such will basically do just the same as he's getting now.  If your after something easy to work, understand and use then look for microsoft comic chat.
Check this site http://www.go.com.jo/faq/mscc.htm and away you go, just make sure you when your on the "connect" page that you use one of the quakenet servers:-

1. Irc.jolt.co.uk
2. Irc.barrysworld.com
3. chat.uk.quakenet.org
4. demon.uk.quakenet.org
5. barrysworld.uk.quakenet.org
6. b0rk.uk.quakenet.org

There's plenty more out there.  Also on the connect page, untick the "show all available rooms list" and tick the "goto chat room" then type in their #deadmen.  As there's about 50,000 available rooms to join then it can take a while to find the one your looking for by going through the list.

Comic chat isnt as advanced as mIRC but for one time usage it'll do just fine.

NN is actually a client, its very similar to mIRC but its much easier to use i find. more or less the same as mIRC tho
