Vivid

I've been invited to join DMW by Tealeaf.  The invitation arose during a conversation on a long car journey when I happened to mention that I was a gamer.  I've often wondered if some sort of Masonic handshake would help gamers over 30 recognise each other- perhaps forming the WASD claw with three fingers on the back of someone's hand?  Aaaannyway....

I've been gaming for multiple decades- oscillating between console and PC gaming.  I'm now firmly back in the PC gaming camp and my Steam/Origin/Uplay drive is so freaking big I think I'm going to upgrade my PC to holographic memory at Easter.  I've joined this community in the hope of finding gaming grown-ups that don't mistake swearing for wit and aren't trying to work through the confusing feelings of puberty by calling everyone that shoots them a 'goddam fag!'.

I've been playing quite a few single-player adventure games for a while (see above) but I'm keen to get back into FPS with BF4, and CS.  I used to play UT quite a bit but that appears to have fallen right off the fashionable list so I'll be looking for new alternatives.

I look forward to getting to know some of you over the next few months and hey... let's be careful out there.

Hey Vivid and welcome to the mad house.

Check out some of the forums and feel free to join any of the games that are going on. There is usually something on each night planned and unscheduled stuff when guys and girls just get together for some gaming or even just a chat on ts.

Hope to shoot you soon :D

Thanks very much for the welcome, folks.  I've just had to install TS on my machine- I've had this PC for over a year and this is the first time that I've needed it!  I've also found that the foam pads on my Platronics headset have dissolved.  Time for some improvisation involving velvet and rubber bands.  Then I might try and fix my headphones.

Regarding TS in CS, bind a separate key to your in-game comms key as we don't use TS for team talk (i.e. No ghosting)
It's used for general chat and dealing with game/server problems, map requests, taunting, goading and congratulating etc.

Apparently I actually exist! Or maybe it was the drink?

Ah, thanks for the heads up.  I wouldn't want to commit a faux pas.

I don't actually have CS:GO I've just realised- I used to play CS.  I thought that CS:GO was F2P but Steam want me to pay £11.99 for it.  Have I missed something?

BrotherTobious

No mate it isn't f2p it is that cost chief

CS was free, then from CS:Zero onwards they have charged for the game but the improvements over the original CS are fairly massive.  The updates are mainly graphical, but they also updated some of the game features such as adding molotovs.  CS in its GO variant is still a decent game though, largely as it has not strayed too far from the original.   Keep an eye out for Steam Sales if you have not already bought it, CS:GO might be on discount for that period.

On our CS:GO server we love good comms during the fight and the emphasis is on working to the objective, so as CT you protect bombsites, the VIP or rescue the hostages.   Solo-frag-hunting is not defintely not our style, so you'll not find us rushing through CT spawn as T for example.

Whilst there are no strict rules, we tend to focus on different games on different nights.   Tonight is usually Arma3 for example, Friday is a focus on BF4 etc.  Check the Gaming section of the forums and you'll see people usually posting about gaming on a particular night.  You'll find different people playing different games on different nights though, just jump into a TS channel and say hello!

Welcome onboard Vivid and thanks for doing the driving yesterday!:dmw:
