Here's a quote from Chris Roberts so that we all understand what happens on the day of release, because it is not a case of "everyone get into multiplayer immediately".   (and tbh, nobody should ever have been expecting it to kick off at 100% functionality on day one)

We intend to launch Arena Commander in two weeks, on May 29th.The goal is that every backer will have access to the single player ‘Free Flight’ and ‘Vanduul Swarm’ games modes on this day, and the very first batch of multiplayer testers will get access to the game’s multiplayer game modes. We will scale up the multiplayer as quickly as possible starting on that date, increasing the number of players as it is stable and stopping to fix bugs where needed.”

“This date is based on our best possible projections using the latest information put together by Star Citizen’s production team as of this afternoon. This is a big part of what the often-unseen production side of game development does: schedule out every task they believe is required for a game to ship.  At this point, we’re close enough that we feel fairly confident in this date… but the next two weeks will be a march!

I imagine they will be monitoring the server loads very carefully, and ramping up as they bring more capacity online. Looking forward to this

It's in the Subscriber section of the forum and says:

If you have any Aurora, you get a base Aurora.

If you have any 300 or an M50, you get a base 300.

If you have a Hornet, Cutlass, Freelancer or any more expensive ship, you get a base Hornet.

If you have one of each of these groups then you get one of each of the base ships.  So someone with an Aurora, 300i and a Cutlass would get DFM access with an Aurora, 300i and a Hornet.

And on the matter of subscribers, my hardback edition of the SC book arrived this morning - and very nice it is too.   Going right in my geek section of my book shelves.
