I (and anyone else) will use this thread to show what Car/Track combo is running on the "DMr Deadmen/Dominant Monkeys RACING" server and what 3rd party mod tracks you will need to join, if any.

Hey Norv!  If you would like to be booked into the server, PM me over your GUID.

We are having problems with the Assetto server, prebooking and performance.  It turns out when you have lots of prebooked cars in the server the game suffers substantial FPS loss (50%) when you drive near the pits. This is making the game unplayable for some.  I am at a loss as to what to do about this.  I will just keep going for the moment as we have been.  We can experiment with different tracks and see if the issue changes etc.

I am open to any suggestions.

Current options I can think of:

1.  Get rid of prebooking and go back to restarting the server any time some one comes along to join the race.
2.  Try to use the FREEJOIN mod.  However..this also seems to have cars sitting idle in pits....unsure if they cause as much FPS loss atm though.  This mod is also more complex and requires possible server changes I can't make.  http://www.kegetys.fi/freejoin/
3. Wait for Kunos to pull their finger out and give us something actually usable...

Cool - I'm looking forward to this (i really like the car :-)) - thank you Seany, for putting all this effort into it!

Regarding the performance problems, it's really a pain! The pro of freejoin would be to save some idle cars (maybe we can go from 14 to 10), but there are many drawbacks. Maybe we can hope, that the next release on July 18th will fix some of the MP pains.

On the other hand, the sim itself is really, really great and it would be such a shame if the multiplayer interface would kill it.

Mille Sabords

Looking forward to trying this!

AC sure looks good, feels a bit strange (probably my configuration at this point / FFB and the other gimmicks). Grrr booking system though, I could not even join a pickup race to try MP (only empty servers) before joining the DMR server!
Are the servers passwords listed somewhere? They do not appear in the usual password thread.

Seany

Yeah saw that earlier, good news.  Fingers crossed!

Seems the Dead Men Server at A/C has gone missing, the Monkey server is there but not the other.

I was going to run the F40...but nah..it's too mental :) .  I'll do it another time, maybe when we can share setups etc or run a combo with more than 1 car.  The 458 is no walk in the park, but is much more forgiving.

It was few days ago when I tried F40 for the first time (in BL1 ;) ). To my feeling the 'mental' thing in it was the massive understeering...and that you couldn't see the side mirrors. Maybe it was in the settings but I got a feeling of a field plow in steroids :)

Ya the mirrors are hard to see on some cars.  Did you know about F11?  That turns on the virtual rear view mirror.

There was an update today at A/C, just a quick report.

A/C Update installed n/p. Installed new Blackwood 0.9.7 and went to DMr server n/p.

Once at track, i did notice it's darker, page up fixed that. I did notice a slight drop in frame rates, heading back for more testing.

Thx DMr.

Cheers Lame Duck, Neys and Deetz for having a go of the new multiplayer system yesterday, was good fun!  I'm pretty pleased with how it worked, much more like what we where looking for.
