was about to order tickets when I saw an email about one of my exams being moved from 12th to 17th of october, so I will not be able to attend this year.

Peanut is coming Toby, sharing with GhostMjr and my fine self - spoken to the hotel got the room for 3 of us sorted out :)

Unfortunately I'll have to pull out from this LAN. Starting a new job next month and my new employer has advised they'd like to send me for some training with their NOC in California.
I'll be out of the country for all of October I'm afraid. I was really looking forward to this LAN :vsorry:

I'm sure you'll have a great time though! :thumb:

Just for hypothetical sake, what would be the chances of finding a spot (carpet would be fine) to sleep in at the hotel if one tries to book very close to the lan dates, say a 1-1.5 weeks before.

And, would anyone be interested passing from Luton to pick a person, or (very small chance) maybe two up?

This is up in the clouds for now, it depends on exams, and if yearly funds arrive prior to said lan, and the airline prices (currently not too bad).

Category would be social.

I'd suggest booking the room anyway, you cancel up to I think 48 hours before (check this with them).  Transport usually is not too much of a problem, we have at least 4 cars from Heathrow, so stopping at Luton en route should not be a problem if it is needed.  Not sure about the carpet option, you seen the state of some of it? :P
