I'm considering ditching my landline and going totally mobile. I'm currently paying about 25GBP per calendar month for a landline which is used a lot by the other half but there are now some very good SIM only deals out there that will cost in for me.

Anyone ditched their landline and have any feedback?

Done it for my business line and went VOIP, not mobile, but still had the main landline for the FTTP internet connection.   That's the only thing you'd miss without a landline, the bandwidth (assuming you had good adsl/fibre to start with).   If you're 3G you'll notice a drop in speed, 4G coverage and you might be golden.

Only use my landline for voice. Virgin cabled the village some years ago so they're my ISP.

VOIP sounds like the way to go, if your connection's steady enough.

I know someone who used Skype for their landline for a while, and was pretty happy with it.

Dumped my landline about four years ago. Now that GiffGaff let freephone numbers come out of inclusive minutes it makes even more sense.

I've kept my LL for my broadband, but haven't had a phone plugged in for years. That said, work have changed provider to EE (spit) so I've no bloody mobile signal...aha, I've installed 'softphone' on my iphone (spit again) and now have SIP on there quite happily. Just saying.

We do actually have a landline, but it's used mostly to ring Virgin Media for free, to complain about their dreadful broadband service. It's actually no cheaper for us to dump the landline with Virgin, they seem to have a wired package discount that is exactly the cost of the land line rental. So we'd save £16 in line rental and then immediately lose it again by forfeiting the discount... or something
