A nice and welcome change to the way ships are announced and sold. Week long flash sales with lower prices and the return of LTI. Seriously looking forward to seeing what my next purchase will look like....  although I'm struggling to choose between

  • Aegis Reclaimer â€" The Reclaimer (formerly  Surveyor), from noted military contractor Aegis, is an  industrial-quality salvage ship. Equipped with a reinforced cargo bay, a  long-range jump drive and launch pods for unmanned drones, the  Reclaimer is an ideal ship for taking advantage of deep space wrecks.  Tractor beams, floodlights, scanner options and docking ports round out  the tool chest on this capable, utilitarian spacecraft.
  • Anvil Carrack â€" The Anvil Carrack has been the vanguard of every UEE  exploration effort in recent years. Featuring reinforced fuel tanks for  long-duration flight, a highly advanced jump drive array and a  dedicated computer core room that allows it to put the maximum  processing power into jump charting operations. Originally a military  exclusive, the Carrack is now available for civilian use as a pathfinder  spacecraft. Features on-board accommodations to allow for truly  self-sufficient flight, including crew medical and repair facilities,  and a mapping-oriented sensor suite capable of always charting a route  home!

Those two are the two im interested in as well. Thing is, with the Phoenix in my hanger, i'm not sure I want to shell out for either of these. Plus they're in limited runs so chances are we won't know which is cheaper.

They're the two that stick out for me too.

The Reclaimer would be an great addition to our fleet. There are lots of exploration ships available but this ship serves a unique role insomuch as it's designed to salvage. Other ships can be fitted with tractor beams etc. but this baby is an industrial-strength salvager.

The Carrack appeals to my explorer side and I would seriously consider melting my Aquila to get one. But as it also has the medical and repair functions then it too would be very useful in team operations.

It's decided. We need them both :D

I had no idea they were going to do this. I will seriously consider melting my Phoenix and Aurora for either of these. We should maybe coordinate who/what people should consider buying. For me, I'm a big SAR fan, and I feel the Carrack will fit that role. However, we're a team and we should try to decide what will work best. I can see the Reclaimer will be able to grind (literally?) credits in no time. The sale starts on Friday.

A very good point. In addition I guess we also need to explore how we can purchase these ships from a (for lack of a better term) guild bank :g:

CIG have confirmed that buyers of the Gladius and Khartu-al (Xi'An Scout) will now get LTI with those ships as they too were concept sales.

I like the drake as I think tl does too that could be useful from time to time.

Sorry. I'm 30 and missed.most of the mmo stuff. How would a bank work? I'm confused. Is it like the 'tax' I paid to my guild on eve?

MMO's tend to have a facility for 'guilds' to tax players a small part of their earnings. The guild can also often be given rare and or saleable items to sell on the auction houses or markets. Then guild funds can be used to repair players equipment, buy in game resources and fund guild activities etc. If SC has a guild bank feature we could possibly use it to buy ships or upgrades etc. that we need? I've no idea if this is in the works though.

I'm probably going to get the Reclaimer. It depends on the cost but I would rather get it earlier and get LTI on it. Of course as yet we have little idea if and how we will get hold of ships in game, so it's not easy to decide to buy now or buy in game?? I doubt these bigger ships will be trivial to acquire in game though. So it's probably going to be an advanced purchase.

I just love the idea of scanning a distant system and picking up a contact. Then closing in on this vast, dark, dead leviathan and lighting it up with floodlights before sending in the drones to strip the guts out of it. Hopefully the Reclaimer will be a big, fat, ugly and oily old tug boat belching fumes and smoke into space and it trundles along.

Thanks for that. Its something I do remember from EVE, but its always been something i've contributed to but never saw the benefit of. Shame really. From the people i've met so far, it seems different here.

If the larger ships are going to be covered by org members, then its all good (obviously more the merrier). I'm SO hoping they'll let us melt our pledges and get maybe some other pledges with the other, larger, ships. We'll see I guess -  its going to be the only way i'll be able to afford one. I'll be looking closely to see what options become available over the next few weeks. I really like my Rear Admiral (*chortle*) pack and the other bits and pieces it comes with. Wonder if we'll see the new ships as an addon to replace our existing ships? I can only hope.

I found out yesterday a buddy of mine has been pledging to the game. He's got a Frigate! Of course I tried to entice him over to our web site although he's with a clan already that have many hundreds of players but they are US based so you never know, and he's a top bloke as well.
Cheers, Bert

Tell him he'll enjoy it more in an Org where *everyone* will know him by his name - not just his tag.

Back on topic ...

The rumour mill on the concept sale has spat out that the 890 Jump is not the ship being sold this Friday and that there's a very good chance that it won't be any of the other ships on the list either.

Punters are currently fingering the Xi'An Freighter as the likely candidate with the Hull C as second choice. We'll soon know :D

The Aegis Reclaimer (the specialist salvager) goes on sale tomorrow.

It looks fantastic ...
