I think crew characters/ NPCs will cost less than $20 in the game. These packages were for folks who couldn't afford/ didn't want to commit a lot to get into the game I think

As far as I know, you'd have to rent those.

These are actual characters, which you can customise yourself, and make them beneficiaries.

Meh. I'm not fussed didn't have enough at the time to be getting them. I'm assuming we will be able to assign out npcs to multiple ships? Or do they get stuck in one?

AFAIK, the one you're flying.

When you're not, they're hanging around in your hangar interacting somewhat.

I'm planning on running a few combat ships to compliment my 325a. A Cutlass Black and maybe a Hornet as well. But I have no trade as yet and am still pondering what that might be. We're obviously way away from a date when I'll need to choose. Now the Carrack has been 'revealed' I'm quite taken with it. However my other option is the Reclaimer which has a distinct role. I'm still not entirely sure what the Carrick is for, especially as it has zero cargo space! Is it just to find stuff? Seems pointless if you can't bring anything back with you. Or is it just to go map new systems and find stuff for the rest of us to retrieve? If so I'd rather grab a Constellation, find it, grab it and go sell it myself.

It is pretty much a pure exploration ship.  Find stuff, calculate and discover new jump points, refine existing jump point data, locate salvageable items & resources etc.  All of this will have a cash value in some way including selling better jump point data.

There are pods you can add to the ship which increase the capacity. They're held in the box on the bottom. Not totally sure how it works. Confirmed the pod though. They're all over the concept art.

I'm curious to know where this will leave the promised engineering and medical facilities though. While I don't expect everything I think 0 cargo as standard would be silly.

I imagine the cargo unit size will change, I saw 1500 mentioned somewhere. I think it was in the ship specs before the reveal pictures appeared.

The RSI site says zero cargo but maybe the pod system will allow for players to choose what to add i.e. cargo space, mining kit, habitation biomes!
