elite forum badge

i thought i'd look into a icon or badge for the forums

i've found a few images that might work.

they need a bit of work but i'm sure we could come up with something, might be a good discussion point at the lan.

I would have thought something around the old wireframe Cobra Mk iii would have been a nice nostalgic badge.

Although the emblem is common to all the releases as well.

My artistic abilities are limited, but I would have thought the thinness of the lines on the wireframe would make it not look so good when shrunk to badge size. I can see just a filled in version of the elite logo working well. It's a very recognisable outline, but also quite simple if you don't include the centre detail.

Whilst I would prefer the wireframe, the elite logo would fit the badge better.

Also, the logo represents The Elite.
The wireframe repersents The Elite on the BBC Micro Model B (which admitedly was my platform at the time!) which might not be everyones Cobra MKIII

Doesn't work like that, Sneaky. There will be a discussion about branding in general at a LAN meeting where badges will be on the agenda.

While those icons look cool, I was thinking of a black image with maybe some detail picked out in the background colour, to match the other badges.

That being said, I have seen the odd badge that isn't the 'black image on a coloured background'. What denotes whether a game gets a black image or a coloured one?

It was basically left up to the badge designer. Most of our badges were designed by Zootoxin.

We're going to have a 'conflab' about badges as Oldie mentioned. The little yellow, red and green award badges have some constraints re size and resolution, although the ones Arithon submitted seem to be fine. However we're also looking at forum badges and a redesign of other stuff. The result could be a whole new way of doing badges and a new look for them all, so it would be sensible to hold fire till after the LAN.
