I felt that went well considering no?

I think because it was a short run there was less breathing room to take it all in. Maybe a 40 min run one way would be a good learning environment?

I think we should ask all pilots to bring the flight plan so everyone is in line.

Landing was made a bit scattery because of us all approaching on different courses according to Google Earth so on the final landing I was on the line, overshot so circled but whatever way I chose there were 3 guys heading right at me hence my quick request to retry my landing.

yeah was good fun, although it didnt help that i didnt have a flight plan for the 2nd landing, which is why i hung about 10 miles to the south and circled till everyone else landed

I was thinking that maybe do another one over xmas using something learjet size, possible a nice route that will take an hour each way. I was thinking maybe innsbruck to somewhere and back, nice scenary round there with ftx global or if we want to stay uk then say culdrose to glasgow or aldergrove.

thoughts?

I'm up for it mate. I got a Madcatz Arcade stick so I have a controller for this and elite that's portable.

it went ok.  I was happy to see more people than i expected :)

The flight was a little on the short side but as it was our first 'Official' event i wanted something simple but interesting to see how it panned out.  We know what to expect now so i can put more into the next event with regards to having flight plans etc (which i agree everyone should load really before the flight).  I plan initially on doing 1 or maybe 2 a month for the 'Official' runs? but obviously if you wanted to arrange ad-hoc runs thats cool too.

Nice run last night Sparko.   Definitely plan more, I think the trick will be to find interesting route and plane combos for each event.

In addition to the small prop plane routes, I'd recommend some ILS large jet routes too, this afternoon I took a 747 from Edinburgh to Gatwick for a nice ILS landing on 08L and it was plenty fun with lots of waypoints to follow.  It went pretty quick too when I set cruise at 290, the trickiest bit was remembering to get down from FL270 with enough time before having to turn in on the ILS beacon for approach.  It needs a little more knowledge to set the autopilot to control the speed/alt/heading and to handle the ILS Nav/App, but it's different to what you have to do in a small Cessna so might be an interesting for some that might not have done it before - and once you have mastered ILS then you can have a bunch of fun in the heavies.
