Just for info: Ã...lesund city is going to be crazy when you lot arrive :woot2:
If anyone wants they can try a big jump in the city centrum, on skiis and landing in the sea.
And most of centrum will be cut off for cars this perriod cuz of the Tall Ship race :)

Yep I know, my wife and I are staying in a hotel at the harbour so the ships should be nearby! Not doing anything on skis though 😋

I'm joining also. Got the Friday off from work and it's the beginning of my summer holiday.
Same flight booked as Albert and his misses.
I hope the offer from crashing Dan-Erik his place is still good. Expect a tall Dutch guy.

For the rest, as it's my first time in Norway, I was planning a bit of a trip after the weekend.
Kakehund suggested going by boat back to Bergen (thinking of staying there for a night) and from Bergen to Oslo by train (maybe staying there  a day or two).
If anyone from Norway has some suggestions on what to do or such then let me know. Nothing exactly planned but interested in seeing a bit more of Norway as it's still my summer holiday.
So... advice is welcome.

Any ideas on the weekend already except the tall boats?

Hurtigruten (or any other boat service) from Ã...lesund to Bergen is an excellent idea, and the Bergen-Oslo train journey is spectacular. Norwegian television acually did a multi-camera, multi-season real-time show on the journey.

If the boat happens to stop in Flåm, definitely go by Ægir brewery. If it doesn't, you can split the Bergen-Oslo train journey at Myrdal, take the train from Myrdal to Flåm, do one day there, then Flåm-Myrdal-Oslo :D

If the price is right, I might actually join you for this bit.

Apart from the tall ships, we have guns and booze planned. The outdoors shooting fell through due to restrictions on weekend shooting at the range, but I'm sure Kakehund can organize the tunnel again. There's some new toys available since last time.
Weather and time permitting we're discussing some form of sight-seeing trip, fjords and mountains and ****. More detail as we work it out.

Guess you can also daytrip on Hurtigruten to see the Geiranger fjord if that sort of thing interests you :) Sent you a more detailed PM, Pete :)

And can I have a stay/ride towards the boattrip on Monday at 01.00 in the morning?

We'll sort out picking you up at the airport by the time you get here :)
And we'll also make sure you get to the boat, the how and who I'm not sure on just yet but we'll get it sorted before you arrive on friday.
So nothing to worry about but getting ready for a fun weekend!

faust82

I can pick up the KLM arrival if someone else sorts the other one. Alternatively, if there's enough room between the landing times, I can do both pickups. If needed, I can also do the boat run.

Quote from: faust82;380038Ghost had a good question, so decided to put the answer here.
He asked if there was any firearm safety resources that should be looked at before coming over. Of course there is.

For those coming with us to the range, we'll provide the safety gear etc. and there will be a safety briefing/quick weapons handling intro. It might be a good idea to check out these few things first though.

Gun safety: guidelines and mindset.

Of course that guy talks about a firefight, being an american. None of that here. You'll mostly be shooting the guns until they're empty anyway, but good to know clearing technique.

For those that want to get a head start on shooting technique, I stumbled across these videos the other day. Some great information there.

Stance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fp_2ECfbwKo
Grip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDzC6djUQxM
Sight alignment: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8C8y5yVnyu0
Trigger press: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trYNu36-g5o

The grip video was kind of 1911-specific, so here's another one using a glock as a demo. Handy, since we'll be trying out glocks :D

More rifles this time around, but most of what's said still applies.
