Despite my horror at the aircraft prices, I've been drooling over the PMDG 777 and am beginning to get that familiar feeling in my wallet!   I love the systems in this plane and their interaction with FSX.  Auto-cruise with time the 'auto-time warp' is just brilliant!

For £30 I'm also very tempted to add FS2Crew's 'PMDG 777 Captain's Set' which has PMDG 777 Voice & Button control, as well as RAAS Professional.

Far too many videos out there for my wallet to resist for much longer......and the sad thing is that I have watched all 4 of these videos in the last 24 hours - and all it did was make me drool more and increase my interest in 'Active Sky' & 'PFPX + TOPCAT'.

Argh!
Don't get me started on those big guys too!
Too many great planes too little time.  I don't care about the wallet....

I'll have to stick to things I understand.... Cessnas and stuff....

Bugger.   It's now in my hangar.  Maybe I can convince myself enough to try using it on Wed night, but I doubt very much if I will be able to get my head around it by then!

I came into this world with nothing,
through careful management I\'ve got most of it left.

Loving this plane, just about got my head around the FMC and completed my first flight from VRMM (Male) to OMDB (Dubai).  My intention is to then solo program the FMC from OMDB to TCNM where I will place a world camera (EZdok), so that when we do the fly-in tomorrow I'll be able to video everyone's approach and landings.   That's the theory anyway

I am pretty sure I will crash and burn. But it is actually a relief thinking about it. Takes the pressure off. (me not your camera)

Well, I landed it at TNCM, but I failed to actually get a world camera planted, so I'll try that again tomorrow.  For some reason all my camera views were slightly out of whack on that leg and I just could not get the darn thing planted.

The landing went well enough, I reckon I had 40ft to spare before I was in danger of adding rubber to the heads of the sunbathers :)

The 777 FMC has a brilliant function where it estimates the point at which you will reach your target altitude.    I reached TopOfDescent about 120 miles out and had to use the speed brake a heck of a lot on the way down from 34,000 to 2,000ft.   That 777 is one slippery sucker!

Still not 100% on the route planning, but I did manage to get there on the flight director route so I guess it's most of the way there.   I particularly love the checklists too, reminds you to do certain things on the way up and the way down, things that in the base models you would not even have thought about.

The sound of the PDMG 777 is awesome, those engines spool up and sound 'just the way you heard them' when you went on holiday.   First time I've ever used the TO/GA function too, much fun when that kicks in :dribble:

85% chance of taking the 777 tomorrow night, as long as I don't prang it in the mean time. :roflmao:

Big news on this plane.

Using some memory techniques they discovered whilst working on their forthcoming 747, PMDG have recompiled the 777 and it now has a considerably smaller VAS footprint (it uses less memory).  Get the download from your PMDG purchase location.
