Hi fellas

I currently have a Intel core 2 duo @ 2.66ghz
4GB ram
8800 gts graphics card
64gig ssd all in a tin box

This set up runs CSGO at anything between 50-100fps with everything turned down to the min.

This is playable but the need for more FPS on the higher settings is gnawing away at me.

What would be my best bang for bucks to make a rig for CSGO. (It will only play this game nothing else) no other stuff required.

This would be an EBAY project ;)

Cheers SloWHaND:help:

Hi Slow

Blimey, long time, matey. Hope you're well and life's being good to you.

There'll be a PC guru along any minute now to advise you but I can guess that their first question will be 'What's yer budget?'

Lifes been a bit of a roller coaster but its on the up at the moment so cant complain hope you and yours are well old fella.

Budget wise I guess its what i can scrounge off of ebay one bit at a time ;(

I really just need a new mb, cpu and ram a graphics card can wait a while.............. I have other expenses like a my sons wedding etc to worry about.

This machine will only be for CSGO

it has to be set up and put away every night when I play.

All other stuff is done off the old laptop

Hey Slow,

CSGO is pretty much CPU limited so you'd likely want to try pick up something along the lines of an intel 2500k + 8gb ddr3 and a LGA1150 motherboard. You don't need a particularly strong GPU for csgo but the 8800 likely won't keep up if running higher details at 1080p.

Hi Pesteh
Is that intel 2500k compatible with the LGA1150
wikipedia site for intel gives the intel 2500k as a socket LGA1155

Chaosphere

Yeah 2500k is socket 1155 only.

Okikoki I have got my hands on a gigabyte LGA1150 mobo and a intel 4400 3.1 ghz quad core processor. The mobo supports 1600mhz ram which is a little onthe expensive side or could I get away with 1333mhz

Chaosphere

Are you sure you mean an Intel 4400 CPU? The only CPU I can find under that name is a dual core. However you may be referring to the graphics side of the chip, the 4400 part, which is attached to a CPU with a different name..?

As for RAM
Yes you can 'get away' with 1333, but if you hunt around you should be able to find a 1600 kit for almost the same price, they are not expensive anymore. Any 2x4GB 1600mhz kit will do just fine.

Intel i5-4400
LGA1150
3.1Ghz the number on the chip is SR14F which hopefully is a quad  core

Gunda

the only i5-4400 i could find i the 4400E which is a dual core, 4 thread processor, and also not a LGA1150 socket chip it is a BGA1364 ?? which is for embeded systems ie laptops.

SLoWHaND

Just to complicate things try i5 -4440 SR14F the advert contradicts itself but the number on the chip in the photo is SR14F
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Gunda

I5-4440 is an LGA1150 socket so hopefully that is the processor you have?

SLoWHaND

Ok given the spec of i5 quad 4 3.1 ghz 8gb 1600mhz ram which graphics card would be the best to get my fps up. Please bare in mind this is an  ebay budget and not a bottomless pit  cheers.

nVidia
Something like a GTX 750 Ti 2GB  will easily run max settings CSGO @ 1080p at very good frame rates.  Costs about £100 new.

AMD
I think you'll get even better value from an AMD card at this price point, look for something like the 7870:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-314-SP&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=411
About £90 and outperforms the nVidia card too.

Comparable cards are here:
